After a break from posting, as we ungraded our workshop and machinery after 25 years, it’s back to business. Our latest project is a beautiful glazed Scottish Ash kitchen dresser with turned Elm handles, complimenting the fine workmanship of The dresser was a pleasure to design and create for our clients. The Ash boards were uniquely dark being predominantly heart wood with a fantastic grain. We cut the bottom door insert panels from the same piece of wood and opened them up to give a butterfly 🦋 wing effect of 2 almost identical panels. The engraved cutting boards were made from Ash, Oak and Elm for additional interest. The top glazed unit was left open above the worktop for maximum practical working space, lite by motion sensor on, off, dim led lights. The glazed doors were fitted with pivot hodges to give clean lines and focus attention on the cupboard contents. The 9 x 10mm glass shelves were lite from above by 3 led spots casting a warm light on both the contents and through the side glazing into the room itself. The V lined back to laid out to show the cut of an ash log on the sawmill. The whiter sap wood on the outsides and the darker heart wood in the centre. The natural edged worktop, top and lighting pelmet added the final touch.
