Your stand has 3 seconds to stop someone in their tracks.

Three. Seconds.

So what happens after that is everything.

We've spent years obsessing over what makes exhibition stands not just look good, but actually work.

Here are 5 things the best-performing stands have in common:

1. Lighting that draws the eye before the brand does.
2. Open layouts that invite, not intimidate.
3. Tech that serves the story, not the other way around.
4. Brand consistency from every angle.
5. A lead capture strategy baked in from day one.

Stop leaving ROI on the show floor.

We asked Shanida, AI Operations Lead at Informa, what it's really like to work with us.

Her answer?

"Nothing is ever too much for the on-site team — working with them is an absolute dream."

That's what Team Tecna is all about. Problem-solvers on site, end-to-end thinking behind the scenes, and a genuine investment in making every show a success for our partners and their exhibitors.

It's no surprise we're back for more.

Tecna will be returning as full general contractor and show partner for the AI Summit 2026 in June, and we genuinely cannot wait.

Watch this space. 👀

When Informa brought us in as general contractor for AI Summit London at To***co Dock, we understood the brief.

Over 4,000 attendees. 70+ exhibition spaces across three expo zones. 67 individual stand builds. Four branded hospitality suites. 14 subcontractors, rigging, AV, digital activation, all managed through our team. Registration desks, wayfinding, networking zones, the entire venue dressed to a coherent experience.

A 50-strong Tecna crew. Six months of planning.

A full show project needs to be designed differently compared to an individual stand. With a single stand, you're optimising for one brand. With a full show, you're creating a system that lets every brand express itself, while serving a visitor experience that has to work as a whole. The show floor is an ecosystem. Every build decision affects the stand next to it.

What we took from it: the creative strategy has to come first, and it has to hold across every touchpoint. From the largest sponsor's build to the wayfinding signage to features at the entrance, every touchpoint and interaction has to be crafted and created with care and attention to detail.

Quick Tip:
If you're a show organiser or a brand considering a full-show partnership, ask your supplier how they manage the relationship between individual exhibitor spaces and the overall show experience. Those two things are in constant tension and only the pro's will be able to offer you a valuable answer.

The exhibition calendar is one of the most unexamined line items in most marketing budgets.

Shows get booked for reasons like, because they were booked last year, the industry expects you there, a competitor is going. None of those are reasons to spend six figures.

We've just published a guide on how to build a show selection process that actually holds up to scrutiny.

How to evaluate new shows before you commit.
How to think about the full cost (not just the space fee).
And the one question that should end any show you've outgrown.

If your exhibition programme is due a proper look, this is a good place to start.

We've built over 2000 stands at NEC Birmingham. Here's what we've consistently seen separate the stands that achieve their outcomes from the ones that don't:

• The stands people walk past have messages.
• The stands people stop at have questions.
• If your graphics are trying to explain what you do, you've already lost the visitor.

The best-performing stands we've built pose a problem the visitor recognises, and then invite them in to solve it.

Three things that consistently drive dwell time:

1. One dominant visual focal point. Not a logo wall. A single image or statement that stops people mid-step.
2. An interactive reason to linger. Screen, demo, experience, something that rewards staying for 60 more seconds.
3. Staff positioned in an inviting way, not behind furniture, or blocking the flow. Furniture creates a psychological barrier. Remove it.

This isn't theory. It's 20 years of watching how people move around exhibition floors.

What's the one thing you'd change about your last stand? Let us know in the comments!

Most people think a general contractor builds the shell and gets out of the way.

At AI Summit London, we know that's the wrong mental model entirely.

When Informa brought us in to deliver the full show, 70+ exhibition spaces, four hospitality suites, networking zones, registration, wayfinding, every branded environment across the venue, the job that mattered most wasn't the build.

It was holding the coherence of the entire experience while 50 people, 14 subcontractors, and hundreds of individual exhibitor decisions were all pulling in different directions simultaneously.

Every exhibitor wants their space to win. Every sponsor wants their presence felt. Every organiser wants the floor to flow. Those things are in constant tension with each other, and someone has to design for all of them at once, or the show feels like a collection of stands rather than an event worth attending.

That's the work no one talks about. And it's the work that determines whether 4,000 visitors leave energised or exhausted.

We're back for AI Summit London 2026. Bigger floor. Higher stakes. Same obsession with getting every detail right, from the first structural frame to the moment the last visitor walks out.

While we wait for the exciting 2026 show, check out some of the action from last year, we think it’s a great way to get hyped for what’s to come very soon… 👀

People don't go to exhibitions to be sold to. 🟣

They go to discover. To explore. To experience something they couldn't find anywhere else.

That's exactly why gamification works so well on the show floor. Not just because it's fun, although it absolutely is, but because it fundamentally changes behaviour.

Passive visitors become active participants. People who would have walked straight past your stand are suddenly stopping, competing, sharing, and most importantly, remembering your brand long after the event ends.

In a crowded exhibition hall, that difference is everything.
The smartest exhibitors right now aren't asking "how do we get seen?" They're asking a far more powerful question:
"How do we get people involved?"

The brands that answer that question well are seeing the results to match. We're seeing more and more of them embrace:

🎮 Interactive games that turn footfall into genuine engagement
📸 AI-powered experiences that create shareable, personalised moments
🏆 Live competitions that build energy and keep people coming back
🎁 Instant-win mechanics that reward participation on the spot
📊 Real-time engagement tracking that connects experience to outcome

When someone participates in an experience, they form a connection with it. And connection is what drives conversations, relationships and results.

The energy a great activation creates doesn't just stay on the stand. It ripples outward across the show floor, across social media and long into the weeks that follow.

Team Tecna know what makes an activation great, and how to make it happen. 🟣
