I need some more space in the woykshop, so this weekend i have this lovely coffee table on sale as part of my . It is made from some beautiful wide waney edged oak from a log I bought up in Oxfordshire many years ago. The grain follows through into the legs, sometimes known as a waterfall joint. Underneath we have a sycamore frame for support.

Originally £1800, it's 30% off at £1260. If you can tell me what the little white flowers are under the table I'll take another £60 off. (not the daisy's, the other ones)

📸 Shot yesterday morning in my meadow.

excited to be opening my studio over the next two long weekends for you all.

We've had a big public project on the go, so not much time for new work, but among other things you can see one of my little loops tables in progress that Charlie Woyka helped me with.

Do drop in to have a look at some of my wares, or discuss that piece of furniture you've been thinking about commissioning.

A bit of wood shopping just before Christmas at the lovely to buy some Grown In Britain oak for a current public seating project.
I had a delightful day helped by Dermot on his penultimate day before retirement. We talked all things woody, furniture, sailing and mutual friends. One of the great pleasures of this game is the people we meet along the way.

We have been preparing all this wood in the woykshop since then. Hoping to install soon.

There I was one evening, sketching some ideas for this commission and this one appeared on the page out of the blue. On reflection, I may have been inspired by this wonderful, uplifting album cover by my friend for . I have the album at home sitting on a shelf and both the cover and the music give me great pleasure.

Laburnum explosion: a pair of bedside tables in laburnum and sycamore. My client's laburnum tree came down, so I planked the trunk and cut the branches into oysters.

I've set the oysters into a sycamore starburst veneer pattern. The left and right tables are loosely a mirror image as I find complete symmetry a little unsettling.

I just love the tone of this wood which was supposedly introduced to Great Britain in the late 16th century. There's nothing quite like it amongst our native woods.

Driving back from work on Thursday night was pretty scary amid storm Goretti. I've never seen so many trees down. Absolute carnage! Didn't make it home, but fortunately was able to sleep at my son's.

Feeling very sad for all these lovely old trees. If this is climate change, we need to do more... or less...

Some time ago, I met a lady whilst exhibiting at the amazing "Crafts at Bovey Tracey" (as it was called then). She was looking to choose something beautiful from the show, and liked my shippon chair. Following a visit to the Woykshop to look at another one I had made in different woods, we agreed the purchase. I later learned it was to be a parting gift to her son.

During our communications she shared this quote from me that she had learned on a yoga retreat, and it had helped her "feel better about spending all that money on my chair". I have it on the wall in my studio, and it has often helped to guide me through some of life's choices.

A very moving exchange.
