St Germans: Find your housemates

Fresher's guide. Unless you have never left the house before, or happen to be a complete idiot who has by some freak accident managed to slip through UCAS and get a place at Exeter, you should already have a good idea of what to take to uni with you. But believe us when we say, there are certain things you won’t have thought of. Trust us, we learnt the hard way! 1. Mattress Protector: We won’t go too far into this one, but believe us when we say accidents happen, especially after 15 Jagerbombs. 2. Onesie: There will be days (and weeks) when you won’t get dressed. 3. Fancy dress: School-tie and safety pins are essential. 4. Alarm Clock: your phone battery will die after a night out. 5. Painkillers: A hangover’s best friend. 6. Cold/Flu Remedy: for the inevitable freshers flu. 7. Bottle Opener: guaranteed nobody else will have one, and if they do it will get lost very quickly. 8. Egg Cup: perfect for hung-over mornings and a convenient for doubling up as a shot glass 9. Washing-up Bowl: or as it will become known, the vom bucket. 10. Febreze: Chunder + carpet. Nuf said. 11. Door Wedge: Perfect for flat parties and to avoid being the anti-social hermit. 12. Playing Cards: Ring of fire. 13. Condoms: Boy or girl, not important. Carry (at least) one and use it. 14. Permanent Markers: What serves as a better reminder for the housemate that passes out at 11pm? 15. Generic DVD Boxset: Friends, The OC, Dexter. Doesn’t matter if you don’t like it or if you’ve already seen it. You will watch it again. 16. Rinse your Parents: buy all your groceries in mega-sizes on your first uni shopping trip. 17. Games Console: for those long winter nights when you have no money/girlfriend. 18. An Overdraft: for the Student-Lock In (check out www.totalstudents.co.uk for more details on this). 19. Love Students Love Discounts card: because when you are a student, every penny counts. (www.lovestudentslovediscounts.com). 20. Tons of Underwear: because doing laundry is only fun the first time. 21. Multivitamins: the ONLY way to guarantee vitamin intake. 22. Multiple Pairs of PJ Bottoms: However many you have, you will need more. The beautiful thing about being a student is you can wear them anywhere and it is acceptable, although you will still look like a twat.
