As you will already know the committee has decided this year to for go our annual parade as a mark of respect for our founder George Thom who passed away earlier this year.
The heart has been ripped out of the committee and we hope to get back onto an even keel in the new year.

It is with great sadness we have to announce the death of our fellow patriot George Marshall.
Even although he lived in the wild west (Airdrie) he always made a point of attending any events our Society ran,he was a private man with a big heart and by God he had the gift of the gab, and as for his patter............ His proudest moment was when we asked him to lead the West Lothian St Andrews Society group at the 2nd Independence rally, his face was a picture. RIP George

The 23rd of February saw our first committee meeting of 2018,a combination of folk on holiday and the bad weather in mid January meant the recent meeting was the first time we could all be together at the same time.
After the meetings agenda was completed our Chairperson presented George Thom with beautiful gold and silver hipflask to mark his retiral from our committee.
George is one of the founding members of the society and was a major driving force in our remarkable achievements so far.His indepth knowledge of where to source musical eqipment ,how to persaude a huge range of different bands and not mentioning his famous soup made working with George at our fundraisers a true pleasure
His tremendous zeal for all things Scottish will never be replaced he is a true son of Scotland who will be sorely missed at future committee meetings.
George we will look forward inviting you to be our guest at the 2018 St Andrews Day celebrations. Until then my friend
Love
