Happy Monday Friends. May this Monday be the start of a new period of renewed energy as the weather hauls its sorry ass into Spring. I just want to get my ankles out, is that too much to ask? We have been very hard at work at Fantoush, so much so that I haven’t even had time to upload all the lovely photos of our Yorkshire Farmhouse project on to the website and I’ve had them for 7 months 🙈 Here is the lovely kitchen we designed with - as featured in last month 🙌🏼

That’s a wrap! 📸. So excited to have finally shot our first London project. This Notting Hill townhouse was stripped right back to the brick an reconfigured into the light and airy space it is today. And because I can’t contain myself, here are some dodgy phone snaps until the real things are ready to be unleashed.

Squeezing myself into the smallest room in the Nottinghill townhouse we finished last year. Looking forward to having this photographed by someone with a wider lens! Fulfilled a life ambition of using this wallpaper - isn’t it beautiful?! The icing on this marble filled grasscloth cake was the incredible antique Spanish ceiling light. Photoshoot on 3 weeks, can’t wait!

It’s taken two and a half years but we finally redecorated the ‘Pistachio Dream’ loo at the studio. It has in fact been so long that pistachio is cool again, thankfully our wallpaper is cooler. It was a mission to source but these beautifully human, handmade sheets of batik printed paper have transformed our smallest room into something pretty groovy. What do you think?

The warm sunny glow of String - the palest of yellows, perfect for injecting a warming glow during these very long Scottish winters. I’ve actually painted my own sitting room this colour recently, I really need to hurry up and make some decisions on it though. 3 months in and I still haven’t chosen the sofa fabric or rug 🙈. Am I the only interior designer incapable of designing their own house?

Happy Friday- it’s been a mixed bag this week, juggling school holidays with exciting work projects - I got a couple of days in the Highlands which were stunning in the snow - but also a bit of survival exercise as we had no heating and it was -5. I could definitely have done with long hot shower, cue memories of this lovely neutral ensuite we designed on our Yorkshire Farmhouse project. We used these great floor tiles from and repeated the pattern in the wardrobe panelling of the adjoining bedroom. Never take a hot shower for granted…it would be my desert island luxury 🚿❄️

Happy Friday- it’s been a mixed bag this week, juggling school holidays with exciting work projects - I got a couple of days in the Highlands which were stunning in the snow - but also de-energising thanks to having no heating in our cottage 🥶felt more like a survival exercise at times, no idea how people survived pre central heating, proper hardy. I could definitely have done with long hot shower, cue memories of this lovely neutral ensuite we designed on our Yorkshire Farmhouse project. We used these great floor tiles from and repeated the pattern in the wardrobe panelling of the adjoining bedroom. Never take a hot shower for granted…especially when it’s -5 outside! 🚿❄️

A shot of the guest accommodation we designed for our Yorkshire farmhouse clients. They built this new annexe to look like a farm building so it was important to us that we translated some of that language into the interior architecture. The ceilings were lined with shiplap and we kept the structural beam exposed. But did we go full country with the interior design? Of course we didn’t!!! What do you think of this barn meets midcentury look?

🔨WORK IN PROGRESS 🔨An exciting update on site this week. The staircase on this Notting Hill Project was once an eye sore and in desperate need for a redesign. We wanted to create something elegant but with a contemporary update and commissioned these wrought iron spindles and a new handrail over 4 floors. The slender black spindles offer a chic punctuation on the neutral walls and pale oak floors.

October seems to be the Achilles Heel in my body’s calendar - aka melt down season. I’ve now learnt that it’s the time of year I need to get away, avoid screens, stare at nature and just stop. I’m not sure if it’s the aftermath of the summer juggle or the change of season but there is definitely a pattern - does this happen to anyone else? I write this on my last day of a holiday to Crete, feeling properly restored and really genuinely excited to get back in the studio, what a difference a week makes! So what has this got to do with these photos? Well it’s about getting off the grid, getting back to basics - fresh air, nature and stopping the noise and this gorgeous project is all of these things. I really loved working on this, there is a lot to be said for living small, nothing ostentatious, just a few pieces that bring a human touch. I can also testify that I had the most incredible sleep here. 😴🦉🌝
