I am Nina Svensen and I design and handmake Lothlend’s furniture and lamps, and I create the interior design schemes. I grew up in Denmark, and now I feel at home in Scotland, having lived here over a decade. My Danish heritage, as well as my experienc
e of living in New York for a number of years, has inspired my unique design style. My designs philosophy is to allow the function and the richness of high-quality materials to guide the design, which results in an elegant and minimalist style with a touch of glamour. The name ‘Lothlend’ is connected to both my Danish heritage and my home in Scotland, as Lothlend was the name of the small Viking settlement in Scotland during the Ninth Century. Contrary to common belief, the Vikings were highly skilled craftsmen, and the Vikings more so engaged in trade and the exchange of skills rather than warfare. So, as a Danish craftswoman trading in Scotland, I felt inspired by the name ‘Lothlend’. DESIGNED FOR YOUR LIFE

Sustainability is key in our product design and we carefully consider the environmental friendliness and sustainability of the materials used in our products. For this reason, we mainly use high-quality renewable bamboo as well as elegant and durable marble in our timeless, durable and cyclical designs and furniture. This means you and your family can enjoy the aesthetics and elegance of your timeless Lothlend Interiors furnishings for many decades and recycle them at the end of their lifetime. MODULAR AND ADAPTABLE DESIGNS
A key part of our slow and sustainable living concept is that our furniture and lamps are designed to be modular and to be used in a variety of settings. We believe in order for furniture to be useful and desirable over many years, furniture must be adaptable to a variety of settings and suitable for multiple uses. To achieve this our Modular Lamp series is designed to be expandable from small to medium to large, simply by adding additional segments, which can be purchased separately. Our multifunctional wall units are designed to combine elegance and function, and work equally well as wall-hung credenzas and TV units or as office and hallway storage. As our wall units match our bamboo kitchen islands, they offer the perfect storage solution for transitioning between living spaces and open-plan kitchens. Our kitchen islands are also modular and are designed to convert from a functional kitchen island into a large elegant dining table that comfortably seats 16 guests. This modularity means that you no longer must choose between a large dedicated entertainment space and an expansive multifunctional open plan kitchen but can incorporate both of these into the same area.
