Helping bring a new gallery to life at the National Wool Museum.
At Davies & Davies Furniture, we’re used to handling large furniture pieces, awkward access, and specialist deliveries — but every now and again, a project comes along that feels especially meaningful.
Recently, we had the privilege of assisting design studio Vista Este with the installation of a new gallery space at the National Wool Museum.
The museum, located in the heart of Drefach Felindre, tells the story of Wales’ rich woollen industry and is housed within the historic Cambrian Mills buildings. The area was once known as the “Huddersfield of Wales” due to the importance of the wool trade in the Teifi Valley.
Our role in the project was to provide specialist moving support for several large display units and exhibition pieces that needed to be carefully manoeuvred upstairs and into the newly created gallery space. While moving furniture and large items is part of everyday life for us, museum installations require an extra level of care, precision, and planning.
Working alongside the Vista Este team was a fantastic experience, and it was rewarding to play a small part in helping bring the new exhibition together. Projects like this often happen quietly behind the scenes, but they involve a huge amount of coordination and expertise from everyone involved.
As a business based in Drefach Felindre itself, the project carried even more significance for us. Our own furniture centre operates from historic mill buildings that are part of the same industrial heritage which shaped this community for generations. Being able to contribute to a space that preserves and celebrates that history felt particularly special.
The finished gallery looks fantastic, and credit goes to the talented team at Vista Este for the vision and design work involved.

And if you ever need experienced hands for specialist furniture moving, access challenges, or large-item installations, our team are always happy to help.
