For us this is pure passion. We love taking a piece of unwanted and unloved piece of furniture and creating something unique and beautiful. When we first set out many of our pieces were destined for the skip or bonfire!! Still to this day when November 5th comes round we almost cry when you see what people can chop up and burn. Old furniture is by far superior to the modern day trends, being bette
r built with quality wood. We love working on the pieces that tell a story. Quite often we uncover dates and makers names which all adds to the character and love we hold for each individual piece of furniture. We nurture every piece back to life. It's an absolute beautiful metamorphosis and we love it! x
Many pieces we source, revive and sell ourselves, but we also offer a full sourcing service. If you require a certain item with certain specifications, all we'd ask for is a customer brief and we'd do the rest. We can also bring back to life any of your own pieces of furniture that you may have been considering selling, skipping, donating to the local charity shop etc. We hope we can inspire you with our before and after pictures. We would also consider buying any items of furniture that are no longer loved. A lot of people underestimate the amount of time, effort and materials that go into reviving this beautiful furniture. This is not a quick fix and every piece is totally unique. Everything we do is meticulous. Everything is prepared thoroughly, first sanding and then washing down with sugar soap to remove the dirt, grease and grime that has accumulated over the years/centuries. The paint we predominantly use is Little Greene which is highly endorsed by English Heritage and has superior durability and an amazing finish. Each piece is undercoated at least 3 times with thin coats to reduce the visible drag and make the finish clearer. Many pieces we will candle wax over the edges before applying a top coat of contrasting colour, of which we'll do another 3/4 coats. Finally the bodywork will be subtly distressed around the edges revealing the depth of the undercoat giving the warm of the typical 'Shabby Chic' character mimicing natural wear and tear over the ages. Last but not least the solid wood surfaces would then be rubbed down with a few complimentary coats of Briwax bringing out the beauty, depth and warmth that natural wood exudes.
