Before picture at the end… this really has been a labour of love. It looks simple but this vintage hall tree was so old, it had layer upon layer of varnish on it and the open grain of the wood was a nightmare to clean up, I sanded and sanded and hand sanded more 🥵 to get the look that my customer desires. The body was painted on Guild Lane Dover Chalk, a beautiful pure white and the paint itself was such a dream to work with. I’m totally happy with the outcome. What do you think?

I had such an amazing time at the Eco Fair yesterday. I was blown away by the talent of small business owners in and around Didcot, I met super bakers Bless You HOME Kitchen , architect , product designer .nana and more. Thank you South & Vale Business Support for putting together such a meaning and well organised event. I want to thank the team Cornerstone Arts Centre , you guys are stars.

When people ask me what I do, I say I’m a furniture painter. In reality, I spend very little time painting compared to the time I spend on prepping. Take this vintage hall tree as an example, I have spent 3 whole days cleaning, repairing, sanding, more sanding, then more detailed sanding following by priming, 3 coats of primer, sanded to smooth between each coat… finally taping out the sections that I want to leave natural… 💤 This is what it takes to get a professional finish. It’s worth it.
