They were in a poor state and took a while to prep before painting.

As they are low they may be suitable for the end of the bed, a tv stand or a bedside cabinet.

As with all my items I don’t overly sand or fill my items preferring to leave signs of previous life, if you are after a factory finish these won’t be for you

The back has been painted and they have a low sheen varnish finish.

The insides have been nourished with a wood salve

So after a break from painting ( but still prepping!) these have been waiting for their moment to debut

Latest project ..

Lovely chest of drawers being stripped in the sun. This is an emulsion paint on un-prepped wood so it’s dry and brittle and coming off beautifully.

This is a solid item and going to look fab painted up

Picked this little set up yesterday….

2 x bedsides

Matching chest of drawers

They’ve got a fairly ropey paint job that will need removing but they’ve got great bones and are very solid. (Bit like me!!)

So, stripping in the sunshine for me today!!

Before,during and after…

These little loves are vintage school stools I believe, from the science lab by the state of them!

They have been roughly scrubbed with industrial de-greaser and wire wool to remove all the grime.

I didn’t want to remove their history and just paint over the marks, bumps and patina so I have re-waxed with a dark wax. The look is uneven and shows their previous life, making them look as they did before but with the knowledge they are very clean!

They are sturdy and would be ideal as extra seating or even little side tables.

I’ve been lucky this weekend with 2 sales off to their new homes.

I’m always grateful when my items sell knowing they are going to be loved again.

Better get the paint pots out!
