My furniture upcycling has had to take a back seat for a while because of family and other work commitments but I’m easing back into it with a few projects for our home.
I bought this Laura Ashley ottoman from Marketplace for a tenner a while ago as it was a great shape and size.
After much searching, I found this fabulous colourful fabric with all the tones I wanted from called Kariba Jewel. Then it was over to my friend Jo from to work her magic and transform it and what an amazing job she has done! I absolutely love it 🧡

Finished commission for Jo from to re-imagine her cabinet - swipe to see the before pic. It started out as a nice little elegant cabinet though a bit orange in tone and with quite a few chips and scratches to the veneer. It’s best feature was the walnut veneer panel in the centre which that was the only part that Jo wanted to keep. Jo loves colour and pattern and so I could really go for it with this piece.
It’s been refinished and painted in and then I have used this absolutely stunning wallpaper on the doors which is Thea in Palm Green from . I then added some simple gold legs to really show it off.
I’m so pleased with the final result - what do you think?

I ‘ M B A C K !!
Hello! I’ve had an unintended break from upcycling after a summer of Covid, holidays and family things. But I’m back! First up is this commission from the lovely Jo at and she really gave me carte blanche. The only proviso was that she wanted to keep the walnut veneer panel in the centre; the rest was up to me. After sussing out her style and colour choices, I got to work - look out for my next post to see the finished piece 👀

A very different commission to share today! This little wooden pram had started to crack and split on the curved ply hood and a paint job just wasn’t going to work. I opted for decoupage with wallpaper to stabilise it. Luckily for me, my client designs wallpaper as one of her very many talents and this beautiful trailing sweetpea pattern was the perfect scale and colourway. I used a special varnish to protect the paper and then mixed a custom paint colour for the wheels to add the final touch.
Now totally unique and a really fun project for me to do!

Are you feeling inspired by Sewing Bee at the moment? If so, then maybe it’s time to treat yourself to a lovely new sewing box! 🪡🧵🧷✂️

This mid century sewing box needed a lot of TLC as the veneer had seen better days and the shiny yellow satin lining was definitely not staying! It has been repaired and fully refinished in this lovely warm neutral with a dusty rose pattern detail. The new Liberty fabric lining is just joyously colourful and there’s new padding so that you can store pins & needles in the lid.

Details:
- painted in a warm neutral (Fusion Mineral Paint in Chateau)
- stencilled details in a muted rose colour
- lined with Liberty Cosmos Flower fabric

Dimensions: 55cm high x 37cm wide x 37 cm deep

Available now for £85 with free local delivery

Something a bit different - this project was so much fun to do! My client needed a tall narrow chest of drawers for her 9 year old son’s bedroom and couldn’t find anything that she liked online.
I sourced a vintage 60’s chest just the right size with the added bonus of a secret mirror compartment in the top. I drew up some potential designs which together with my 9 year old client and his mum we narrowed down - he had very clear ideas on what he wanted, which was brilliant!
The main body is painted in Fusion Mineral paint in Bayberry which is a gorgeous dark khaki green. I used (imitation) gold leaf for the lightning bolt and then restored the wood of the drawers with a specialist furniture oil.

Job done and happy clients!
