Today didn’t start too well with a major diversion from home to Hay but I made it in anyway just to sort out the clothes and then a phone call from my supplier who had THE MOST bright, beautiful rugs and cushions I had to resist buying the whole van then and there from 40x40 cushion cover to rugs 8x10’ already adding to my ever growing range of homeware 😄

If you come in today you will see this early Victorian cricket table, currently my favourite piece of furniture - so much so it’s been a strong debate whether to sell…, better seen than in the photos it’s telling us every bit of its history with its peg jointing, little quirks, old nibbles and repairs it could be used as a small dining table, side table or just in pride of place.

No second measures, no skipping steps, made well, made to last.
I bought this table (one of two) from a Welsh valleys second generation pub, everything there had a story to tell from the miners belt buckles to the scratch built donations jar. Now in the shop window in Hay-on-Wye I can’t help but imagine the conversations, laughter and the face of the adopted patterdale sat in his seat closest to the bar.

I love the tick tock of a real clock don’t you? In my opinion if it hasn’t got a winding mechanism it loses the majority of its charm, this French mantle clock was bought from a private home and despite the angle of my ancient floors propped up to near level it keeps perfect time chiming on the hour and half hour it may even help me with my time keeping! Today is all about the clean up at home, gathering wood for the fire and clearing the decks for another intake of stock, Saturday however when the rain was lashing down and the skies were grey I created a new window display and organised the shop to show the hand-finished and unique finds already there. I don’t know about you but when you feel pulled from pillar to post with everything you have to do it takes a step back and a deep breath to see the good and the great that was already there.
Needless to say everything in the picture down to the paint on the walls is for sale so if you haven’t been in the shop already please come and see the every evolving shop that is me.
