How To Stencil ⏬

✨ Quick tips for stencilling furniture

💫 Prep your surface first
Clean thoroughly and make sure your paint is fully dry before applying your stencil.

💫 You will need -
• Stencil
• Low tack tape
• Chalk mineral paint
• Dense stencil brush or sponge
• Kitchen towel
• Top coat to seal 🤍

💫 Secure your stencil in place with low tack tape so it doesn’t move while applying paint.

💫 Dip your stencil brush lightly into the paint and dab off the excess onto kitchen towel first.
Less paint is best to avoid bleed through ✨

💫 Using a gentle dabbing motion, build up the colour slowly rather than applying too much paint at once.

💫 Carefully peel back the stencil while the paint is still slightly wet.

💫 Leave to dry fully before sealing with your chosen top coat 🤍

✨ Top Tip
Less paint on your brush gives the cleanest stencil finish 🙌

✨ How To Decoupage ⏬

💫 Step 1 – Prep your base
Paint your surface first. I used Bonding Boss in white to create a bright base and help eliminate any bleed-through 🤍
Leave to dry completely.

💫 Step 2 – Get your decoupage ready
Using Clear Coat, paint the section where you want your decoupage to sit.
⚠️ Wherever you apply the Clear Coat is where the paper will stick, so be careful with placement.

💫 Step 3 – Apply the decoupage
Carefully place your decoupage paper into position.

✨ Top Tip
Use a scrunched-up piece of cling film to gently smooth out wrinkles.
This is super gentle on delicate decoupage paper and helps prevent tearing 🤍

Gently smooth over the whole piece and leave to dry.

💫 Step 4 – Seal the design
Once dry, apply a generous coat of Clear Coat over the top to seal everything in 🤍

💫 Step 5 – Finishing touches
Allow to dry fully, then lightly sand away any excess edges for a clean finish ✨

Stencilling 👇🏼⏬

Here’s Exactly What To Do 👇🏼

✔ What You’ll Need:

• A large natural bristle stencil brush
• A dry piece of cardboard
• A small amount of paint
• Low-tack tape

✔ Step 1 – Load Lightly

Dip just the very tips of your brush into a small amount of paint.
You want minimal paint — less than you think.

✔ Step 2 – Offload Properly

Brush the paint onto cardboard first.
Keep brushing until the brush looks almost dry.

If you can see wet paint — keep brushing.

✔ Step 3 – Circular Motions

Secure your stencil with tape and hold it firmly in place.
Using light pressure and circular motions, apply the paint slowly.

Work in small sections.
Build the colour gradually.

✔ Step 4 – Repeat

Less paint.
More control.
No bleed through.
