St. Curig's Church

St. Curig's Church A quirky self catering property in the Welsh mountains. The new church was dedicated to St. Julitta - Curig's mother. Pauls Cathedral.

St Curigs offers that something different in bed and breakfast accommodation in the heart of Snowdonia National Park - modern ensuite bedrooms in the unique surroundings of a spectacular 19th century church. Until 1848, Capel Curig formed a chapelry in the parish of Llandegai but was administered by the priest from Dolwyddelan with worship being held in the old St Curigs church which dates from th

e 13th century and was originally Curigs Chapel from which the village got its name. With the growing number of visitors to Capel Curig in the 19th century the old St Curigs church (now St Julitta's ) became too small to accommodate the congregation and the new St Curigs church was opened in 1883. Curig, the boy martyr and the dedication of the old church was then changed to St. Whilst services where transferred to the new church the graveyard at the old church continued in use until quite recently. St Curigs was deconcecrated in 1992 and was taken over by the current owner in 1998 to be lovingly transformed to provide luxury bed and breakfast accommodation. Being located in Capel Curig the converted church is ideal for those wishing to explore Snowdonia - walkers, climbers and tourists alike

Your host Alice Douglas strives to ensure that St Curigs offers high quality accommodation which is unique for the area, providing both character and charm along with personal and friendly service. The guest area at St Curigs includes four modern en-suite bedrooms - two double rooms with hand carved four poster beds and two twin rooms All are furnished and decorated to a high standard and are provided with colour television and hospitality trays. The dining room and guests lounge area is located in the former apse featuring a towering ceiling, stained glass windows and the lavishly decorated mosaic ceiling commissioned in memory of his wife by William Edward Sackville-West - the estate manager to Lord Penrhyn. Made by the Salviati company whose other work grace the Houses of Parliament and St. Whilst our en-suite bathrooms may be sufficient for many after a good day out in the mountains for those who come prepared our outdoor whirlpool hot tub could be the way to relax and ease those aching muscles. Walkers and Cyclists welcome - drying facilities are available for wet clothing and boots

We’re down to the last few spaces for our next retreat, a quiet pause for anyone longing to slow down and reconnect. This time is to swap constant busyness and anxiety for balance and calm. Bring your tired body, busy head and leave with more headspace, renewed energy, and simple practices you can return to whenever tension creeps back in. Come on your own, or share the experience with a friend, mother, daughter, or sister. A few days to breathe, rest, and remember yourself. Message if you want anymore details. Thanks

As the floor at St Julitta's isn't finished for the carol concert this year, we are having a festive gathering for anyone who'd like to come at St Curig's Church at 18.30 on Sunday 21st December. Anyone is welcome. Please park outside Joe Browns or in the car park behind. You can park on the church drive, but you might get blocked in! Please come in around the back door (not the front glass one). It would be absolutely lovely to see anyone who'd like to come. Thanks 🙂 please share!

Today, we have signed an open letter to the Prime Minister urging the government to reconsider plans to weaken protections for National Parks and National Landscapes.

Earlier this year, the government celebrated 75 years of these iconic places and reaffirmed their importance. Changing course now and removing the protected landscapes duty would undermine their environmental, health and economic value.

These landscapes support biodiversity, improve public health and contribute billions to the UK economy. They are essential to our national wellbeing.

We, alongside 202 other NGOs and business leaders, are committed to protecting our natural landscapes now and for future generations.
