The Origins Of BenchMark Creations

BenchMark Creations is the new face of what i have been working up to over the past 10 years. I am a hobby carpenter and have no formal qualifications in carpentry, however what i lack in formal qualifications i hope i make up for, with passion for the pieces that i create.

I’ve always had a love of building / creating things, ever since i was a child but strangely i decided to take a different route when it came to a career. However there has always been that interest, so all those years, a decade ago, in my personal time i decided to try and renovate a late Victorian town house, everyone loves a bit of DIY! Well this kind of opened the floodgates for starting to create things again and i have been doing it ever since in my spare time.

It all began with gifts / requests for friends and family and my first piece was to find & restore a garden bench for my dads birthday (An example of a very similar one you can see in the image above). This led on to more projects and slowly but surely i was amassing tools and learning different techniques to be able to produce each piece.

Over those years I've created and refined all sorts of things from solid oak chopping boards, to coat racks and most recently a two station jewellers bench.
