Its been a while yet again. I'm going to upload a few from the last 6 months or so. I've just been so busy. Still not taking new bookings so please just oggle over these pretties for the moment.
I really enjoyed working on these. They were custom made in Dublin a couple of decades ago. Same owner and had never been upholstered. The frames are solid with the addition of cardboard here and there. Its actually more normal than you think. Annoys the bones of me but what annoys me more is an unclean edge. Took a while to clean back the foam (see pics). What a difference if I do say myself. Brand new seat and seat cushions too. But I have to tell you the most lovely thing about this job. While I was working on it the lovely owners got engage. Delighted for them. They really are a beautiful couple and I wish them all the very best for the future in their new home.

Loving our new cushions. These cushions have been a year in the making🤦🏻 so so hard to find the time to do things for myself. My girls are obsessed too which is lovely. The lovely Gillian (Facebook only) did a brill job as always giving me the look and feel I was after for these scatter cushions. The green tassel fabric would you believe I bought in a charity shop in Western Australia about 6 or 7 years ago. I loved it then and knew 1 day I would find the perfect use for it. I think it goes perfect with the navy, mustard and green.

Really enjoyed doing this modern sectional sofa for Check her out btw AMAZING 🤩 Had to resize all the cushions and brand new foam seat cushions. They were all pretty poorly fitting and kept falling off one end. After seeing the frame, I feel this was maybe made by another upholsterer or they had the frame built by an independent carpenter. Something small scale for sure. Defo not a mass produced piece. Also, had to go right back to the frame and put new webbing and foam on. If I do say so myself, it looks like a brand new sofa. Feels like it too. It’s always a worry for me when my work means the feel is going to be completely different. Especially when it’s a piece that’s used everyday. I second guess myself the whole way through. Ones comfort really is a very personal thing! I got the thumbs up though so a big massive phew from me. You can see I had to toast it when finished. It was actually a bit of a toughie. I woke 1 morning mid way through and my hands were throbbing. I love my trade, the art of upholstery but no way I’ll be doing this solidly the next 30 plus years. One day I’ll be able to strike a balance of work and teaching preloved

Estimated 130 year old late Victorian Iron Back chair. My fingers have seen better days after this I tell ye. Was a pleasure to do at the same time. The lady who owns it said it belonged to her late mother in law. Was used as a nursing chair and I think they owned it from new which is amazing in itself. They lived in Wales before the states and now in Ireland. It is well travelled. Unfortunately the most recent part of its life was in a damp cold mouldy shed with all sorts on top of it through the years. It was however still solid!! I could restore the back and arm pads but the seat pad was done for. I made a new coconut fibre seat using traditional methods with cotton wadding over the top and dakron. This I didn’t get a picture of unfortunately 🤦🏻 the back is a metal frame and EVERYTHING on there is hand stitched. A rare enough chair to work on to be honest. Pretty cool but hard and time consuming but I’m glad to now be apart of its history. Covered in a plain navy velvet which I think looks fab.
