It’s not all about the furniture! ….

Some of you will know how much music plays a part in my life and at Christmas I usually record a solo performance of a carol…but this year it seemed appropriate to record a ‘live’ performance of a track from my forthcoming album ‘Trem’, scheduled for release May 2025. This is a ‘live’, one take performance over the lush strings and keyboard pads performed and recorded for the album by my friend Nick Holland. The Final Curtain’ will close the album and in this instance will mark the end of 2024, before we welcome in the New Year.
It’s a challenging piece to play….a complex blend of volume control, ‘trem arm’ pitching and harmonics…..very satisfying when it all comes together….which it mostly does, in this take…..I hope you think so too!
These techniques have come to define my style of guitar playing….with a huge acknowledgement to my ‘guru’ of many years….the incomparable Jeff Beck whose mastery of dynamics, feel and so much more is unsurpassed. RIP ‘The Chief’ whose ‘Final Curtain’ came far too soon.

Happy Christmas and all the best for 2025 to furniture people and music lovers alike.
