I asked shabby if this was going to plan, knowing he acquired it as a quick 'clean up and make good' project.

He looked at me and said: "I bought it from a man who thought he was a dog"

"Why was he selling it?" I asked

"Because he wasn't allowed to sit on the furniture"

I smiled, mostly out of pity

Shabby has been hard at work- little did he know when he bought the bench legs exactly how much work was involved. And he bought 4 sets! Still, if it's Shabby's idea it must be a good one!

The legs are antique cast iron, stripped and painted. The slats are all sustainably sourced African sapele hard wood. Hand cut, routed and counter sunk by shabby himself. Then simply treated with teak oil.

These have been made with love, 3 more to come when shabby has another week to spare!!! (You can even choose what colour you'd like the legs.)

Here's a gorgeous piece of furniture! Definitely not one for painting- shabby is to do a little light restoration on it,- then it will make for the most wonderful statement piece dining table or office desk.

Formally from a solicitors firm, this partners desk is late Victorian, all original. Ask for info!

Shabby's first outdoor Spring project 2016. He bought the bench from a architectural salvage yard in Liverpool for a tenner, on the condition that he brought it back from the sorry state it was in.

A late Victorian bench that had been battered, bruised and broken, and left in pieces to rust.

The timbers, being hardwood, were mostly ok. After a little stripping and treating, (and that was just shabby) the bench got restored too.

Pleased.

Spring has sprung! Shabby has come out of hibernation with these little beauties. Influences of Neoclassical and Rococco forms, a charming pair of highly decorative pieces. £75 for the pair.
