We’re delighted to share some fantastic news — South Skye Men’s Shed has been successful in our funding application to the National Lottery Community Fund! 🎉

This generous support will go towards our internal renovations, bringing us one step closer to creating a welcoming, fully equipped space for our members and the wider community.

Happy 100th Birthday Sir David Attenborough!

At 100 years old today, Sir David Attenborough continues to inspire the world with his curiosity, energy, and lifelong commitment to understanding the natural world.🥳🎂🎉

As well as doing a wee bit of the renovation work at the new shed recently the shedders had busy and productive session at the old shed today. Today's highlight was the completion of a fantastic new picnic bench — built with care, teamwork, and a fair bit of good humour along the way. Of course, it would’ve been rude not to give it a proper trial run… so the lads took a well-earned break to enjoy a cuppa together sitting on their handiwork ☕

The Shedders have been hard at work in the new building over the past few weeks, from clearing and organising the space to getting stuck into renovations, there’s been plenty teamwork, and good craic along the way. The photos here give a glimpse of what’s been going on behind the scenes.

We were absolutely delighted to receive a share of the profits from the recent run of concerts by The Skye and Lochalsh Orchestra 🎼

A huge thank you to everyone for thinking of South Skye Men’s Shed. Your support means a great deal to us and this will help towards the renovation of our new shed.

A busy few weeks for the South Skye Men’s Shed!
Between meetings with contractors, contributors, local suppliers, and working through funding applications, the guys have still found time to roll up their sleeves and get stuck in.

Here’s a wee snap of some of our shedders sorting through the old paint left in the church hall — clearing the space bit by bit and uncovering what we can reuse, recycle, or safely dispose of.

It’s amazing what progress can happen behind the scenes. Thanks to everyone supporting us as we move closer to bringing the Shed to life for the whole community.

News from this week’s Isle of Skye Area Committee:

✨ Community projects in the Skye and Raasay area will benefit from more than £70,000 of Community Regeneration Funding. These are: South Skye Men’s Shed and Counselling Care: Skye & Lochalsh (CCSL).
