You know I love a chair with a story…

This lovely Victorian chair was inherited by my client from her grandparents. The chair has been traditionally upholstered from the frame up and recovered in a beautiful fabric produced by AND designed by Katherine’s great aunt, Peggy Angus!

Peggy worked with lots of mid-century architects and produced many designs for tiles and wallpapers. Some of her stunning designs are now available as wallpapers & fabrics from What a fitting fabric for this family heirloom.

Creativity clearly runs in the family as
is a wonderful textile artist - please do check her work.

Good chair story eh?

Been busy moving house…! I’m back to it and finished these sweet little chairs in fabulous fabric. The perfect choice for a mid century pair! They now sit very well with four bright orange, vinyl dining chairs, next to a fabulous new ply kitchen!

A beautiful rocking chair designed by Ingmar Relling in the 1970s. Such a stylish and comfortable chair!

Now sitting in the same room as the Fried Egg chair - see previous post. My lovely client’s family hail from Denmark and he was lucky enough to inherit these fabulous chairs.

Fabric : Lana by - a beautiful naturally fire retardant wool felt.

Nicknamed the ‘Fried Egg chair’, Model 188 is a wonderful Danish design by Hans Olsen, 1956.

The asymmetrical seat was designed so you can swing your legs over the side when you’re feeling extra casual! A Birds Eye view gives you a clue to the nickname.

All ready to go home to its lucky owners!

Something a little different… The QE2 Restaurant Chair. Designed by Robert Heritage in 1969 and manufactured by Race Furniture in Kent. It was winner of the Design Centre Award in 1968.

As the name suggests - these chairs were made for the restaurants on the QE2. When the QE2 first went into service in 1969, there were 1300 of these chairs used in both the Columbia and the Britannia Restaurant.

Last photo is the original advert for the chair design borrowed from www.theqe2story.com Check out this website if you want to nerd out on QE2 furniture history!
