A tale of a tall & short boy

I really enjoyed making these two pieces, utilising a couple of boards of maple with particularly lovely heartwood.

The tall boy stands—well, tall—making the most of its height and packing in plenty of storage. The short boy, not to be outdone, keeps things simple, tucked under a windowsill where the sun can shine into the room, showing off the contrast between the white maple and its darker heartwood.

A lovely piece to close out 2025 ✨

Many of you will have followed this piece taking shape through my stories over December. Here’s the finished thing!

A solid oak drop-leaf dining table, designed to seat anywhere from a quiet meal for two to a lively eight.

The biggest yet!

Not only are these trays BIG at almost 1m x 1m, but the project itself was the biggest to come through the workshop yet!

This took a lot of energy, help and late nights, but was a really enjoyable project to bring to life. 43 trays made using my patchwork process and stained black with the wonderful intense black.

Thanks to for commissioning this one and to a great team stepping up to get this done!

Patch tray
The next piece available at .snitch

Made by joining multiple pieces of English cherry, each carefully chosen for its unique grain pattern and rich colour, showing off the beauty of this native tree in a single, functional piece.

To finish, the tray features a mitred and steam-bent frame, designed to securely hold and display the items inside.

Created by combining cherry and sycamore to show off the unique beauty and character that two distinct trees can bring to one design.

The patchwork process consists of meticulously selecting, cutting and combining characterful sections of timber to create a sort of Franken-board to work from.
