Top Notch Sash Window Renovations

Restore or replace? It’s a question we get asked a lot. Our preference is to always try to repair and restore, as with the correct maintenance, our Victorian and Edwardian sashes are often still go for the next 100 plus years.

On this project, we were restoring the original windows by replacing the rotten sill and architrave to match the original features and return the windows to as good as new - ensuring the original boxes and sashes are preserved for the next generation.

Some beautiful Accoya, timber french doors and sliding doors we created on a listed building on Hove seafront.

We recently popped these horizontal sliding sashes into a Grade II listed property in Lewes. Naturally we matched the originals perfectly. Aren’t they gorgeous?!?

We’ve been overhauling, draught proofing, refurbishing and restoring the sash windows at the Royal Oak in Poynings. They’re going to be looking super smart for their July Independence Day opening!

For this beautifully, bright bedroom, we installed some full-height, solid shutters. The design of these shutters, works to compliment the moulding of the original sash window box detailing.

A classic example of a rotten window sill. We always try to repair sills in the first instance, by splicing in new timber, filling any gaps with our epoxy resin, then we prime and undercoat them so they’re good as new. If they are beyond repair, we match, like for like the existing profiles with new hardwood or Accoya sills.
