Little keepsake box made recently for a customer. This was a chance to play around with staining on some ash, something that I hadn’t really done before and my first time working with poplar, aiming for the contrast between box and lid.

The lid is removed via a small cove for a finger, further adding to the clean, contrasting look I was aiming for.

Excited to keep playing around with similar ideas!

Keyrings are mahogany with some pyrography lettering. Think I need to work on my handwriting!

English Cherry and Walnut keepsake box with a vegan leather handle and walnut veneer splines in a dovetail shape, made as part of a weekend at Williams & Cleal Furniture School . Happy with how this piece turned out but still more to work on. I enjoyed working with woods I had never worked with before and the experience of a professional workshop was very insightful.
