How would you spend £20m of funding in Spennymoor?
In October 2023, Spennymoor was identified as one of the beneficiaries of a Government programme and is set to access £20 million through the new Long Term Plan for Towns (LTPT) fund. The programme is designed to support sustainable growth, improve infrastructure and create thriving communities in towns.
This funding must be used in line with a vision and investment plan for the town covering three broad themes; high streets, heritage and regeneration; transport and connectivity, and safety and security.
The basis of the LTPT programme is that local people are at the heart of deciding what the town's priorities are and to that end we are keen to ensure that everyone in Spennymoor has an opportunity to have their say on how this money should be spent.
We are keen to hear from as many people as possible to inform the best possible decision making. Our ask of you is therefore that you complete a survey form and encourage your friends and family to do the same . The online survey can be found on this link Spennymoor LTPT (snapsurveys.com) or by scanning this QR code on your mobile device:
There are also a range of opportunities for you to speak with us directly at public engagement events and details of when they are happening, along with further information on the fund, can be found on the following link Consultation on a long term plan for Spennymoor - Durham County Council
Eligible Area for Investment
The map below shows the boundary chosen for the investment by the Government. This area covers from the Thinford and Durham gate area in the north of the town and continues to Middlestone Moor in the south of the town, and also incorporates Tudhoe and the Merrington Lane area.
As well as residents, anyone who regularly visits Spennymoor for work, leisure or school is welcome to have their say.
By gaining an understanding of how our communities feel about the town and what you would like to see happen in the future, we can move forward and design a town plan that will bring about the biggest difference and long-term success for Spennymoor. We would really appreciate therefore if you could take some time to let us know your views, they can genuinely shape the positive development of the town.
