HELP! As a resident of Bishop Auckland, I'm concerned by the decline of trade in the Town Centre. Far too many shops are closing, as both shops and shoppers are choosing to go to Tindale Centre instead. I would like to change this and to do so, I'd like your help. I have secured one of the largest vacant premises in Bishop Auckland and I intend to open it as an indoor market in the near future, with space for approximately 40 stalls. I'm looking for people and business who would be interested in renting these stalls, inside, in the warm and dry. Experienced market traders and beginners in the industry are both just as welcome. If you've ever sat and thought to yourself ''Yeah, I reckon people would buy that!'' then you're exactly who we want. Collectively, I believe that we can return footfall to the town centre by creating an interesting and diverse indoor market. I predict the cost of a pitch to be around £30 a day, although the price would be negotiable depending on how long the pitch was reserved for. Other than this payment (and whatever you feel like spending at the cafe on-site, selling good, warm grub and drinks) there would be nothing else for a trader to pay. Below are some examples of stalls we'd welcome, although we're open to any and all ideas and very flexible. Tattooist/Body Piercings/Nails/Eyebrows/General Beauty + Cosmetics. Baby Goods/Knitted Wear/Children's Clothing/Accessories. Sewing Alterations. Sweet Stall. Green Grocer's. Fish Monger. Butcher. Baker. Arts and Crafts. Artist/Cartoonists. Toys + Games. Car Parts. Watch Fitting + Battery Changing. Do you produce a small amount of homemade goods and don't think you have enough to fill an entire stall? Not to worry! We intend to help small producers find each other and collaborate on a stall, if they would like to, so please don't count yourself out because you're not producing thousands of products a week. We're very interested in making this market work, but even more comitted to the overall goal: we want Bishop Auckland to be thriving once more and the town centre to generate more trade and footfall.
