Sorry for radio silence all these months. Life got complicated and I had to give up my studio at the Old Print Works.
I'm now back at Old Print Works as part of The Upholstery Group. I hope to be able to get the Moseley Mid Century magic flowing again at some point in the future but for now I'm working on 2 of my own chairs.

for me! This one is for me 😁 It's a egg chair with a lovely teak swivel base.
I'm not sure what fabric I'm going to use yet....
So exciting!

Taking a rest day today, so doing a bit of drawing.
Sacred geometry is another interest of mine. The Shri Yantra is a Hindu geometric pattern that I have recently come to know through exploring the link between sacred geometry, earth energies and us humans.
This came into my mind whilst I was meditating in ancient woodland in Devon a few weeks ago.

Martin the beautiful German Mid Century Modern office chair is complete. He looks dapper in his tweed suit jacket and new chinos.
He's just waiting for his partner Moritz to get a wriggle on before heading back to the head office for collective creativity and brummy pride making.

And now for something quite different!
The cabinet was bought by my customer's Dad when they moved into their house in Kings Heath in the 1940s. It even has the delivery label with the address still on the back.
My customer now lives there and needed a console table for the hallway and his father's cabinet is the perfect fit.
It was a bit unloved, but it's already looking so much better with the first coat of silver paint. We have a little twist to add in replacement of the broken door glass, which will bring it bang up-to-date. You will have to wait for that tho.
I don't often paint furniture, but I'm loving doing this! Another item of brown furniture saved from being turned into firewood. Makes me smile inside 😊

Picked up these beautiful teak lounge chairs this week. They're in fabulous condition and once the old lacquer has been removed a new finish applied, they will look beautiful. Teak rewards you well for a little TLC.
They will be stripped, restored, reupholstered before being placed for sale on my Etsy shop £475 for one, £850 for the pair.
Inbox me to reserve and discuss fabric options.

Once upon a time there was a busy mum with 3 kids who got really fed up of flat pack furniture. It was expensive, shocking quality & really environmentally unfriendly. After a house move where kid number 1’s wardrobe collapsed and part of Busy Mums “expensive” scandi style wardrobe broke, she made a pact not to buy that crap anymore.
Busy Mum also had a passion for retro and vintage style clothing and furniture. A lot of retro furniture fell into 2 camps, either ridiculously expensive and/or hideously “Upcycled” items, or largely unloved brown wood items from the local charity shops. Busy Mum thought sod that and decided to have a go at renovating a mid-century gentleman’s tallboy/wardrobe and a rather shabby looking chest of drawers, she later knew to be made by Avalon, which she bought from eBay. The end results were rather beautiful! The quality of the furniture, was far, far superior to flat-packea. A little spark was ignighted....
And so the obsession began! The obsession with where to source furniture, types of wax, of how best to remove old varnish & lacquers, whether to hand sand or use a sander, danish oil, power tools, sheds, G-Plan, Ercol, unbranded and handmade tables and chairs, upholstery, veneer, Ausinsuite, white spirit & meths, Avalon, how best to clean paintbrushes and stop them going stiff, jigsaws and most recently how to finish with Shellac. An organic journey of discovery and passion and clogging up the house with pieces of furniture that she didn’t actually need, but fell in love with anyway!
Busy Mum’s hubby was very tolerant of having to climb over dismantled bits of furniture “stored” in parts of the house such as the shower cubicle or on top of the sofa. Eventually she decided that the best way of being able to continue this passion long term was to sell items on. Moseley Mid Century was born. She only bought things that she loved. She stripped off coats of old paint to discover the dull teak veneer with a few chips, cleaned it all up oiled and waxed so that the light reflected off the grain in that glowey orangey yellow way. Feeling the smooth silky renovated wood made her (VERY BUSY) heart sing. Seeing a piece or furniture sparkle again made her happy!
All Moseley Mid Century items come with added love and sparkle.
