✨ Throwback Thursday ✨

We’re looking back at this exciting transformation for Pimlico Primary School, where we turned a traditional library space into an immersive jungle-themed reading environment designed to inspire young readers every day. 📚🌿

The project included:
🐘 Custom elephant book display units
🦒 A striking feature wall with integrated seating and shelving
🎨 Bespoke themed artwork bringing the space to life

By combining imaginative design with practical library furniture, we created a welcoming space where children can explore, read and learn in a fun and engaging environment.

Happy Outdoor Classroom Day 🌿📚

Taking reading outside can have a powerful impact on children’s learning and wellbeing. Outdoor reading spaces encourage engagement, support a positive reading culture, and provide valuable opportunities for children to connect stories with the world around them.

Benefits of reading outdoors include:
🍃 Boost engagement and focus
📖 Encourage a love of reading across the whole school
🧠 Support wellbeing and mental health
🌎 Create multi-sensory learning experiences
🎨 Inspire creativity and cross-curricular learning

To celebrate, we’re also sharing 6 great books for children to enjoy outside:

🐞 Where’s Mrs Ladybird? by Ingela P Arrhenius
🐛 The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle
🌸 That’s My Flower! by Alice Hemming
🌿 The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett
🦋 Little People, BIG DREAMS: David Attenborough by Maria Isabel & Sanchez Vegara
🌳 Wild Child by Dara McAnulty

🎬📚 New Children's Booklist: Film & TV

Our latest themed booklist brings together some of our favourite children’s books that have been adapted for the screen.

From The Cat in the Hat and Lost and Found to How to Train Your Dragon and Wonder, these stories help connect reading with the films and TV programmes children already know and love.

Perfect for engaging reluctant readers and sparking conversations about books vs films.

📚✨ There are lots of exciting ways for schools to get involved in the National Year of Reading 2026, from pupil workshops and competitions to professional development webinars for teachers.

Competition 👇
TGJones has launched Bitesize Bookworms, a national children’s book review competition celebrating the ways children talk about their favourite stories.

Primary school-aged children are invited to submit a review in 25 words or fewer, explaining why their favourite book is the best book ever! 🐛📖

We’re proud to share a recent project completed at North Harrow Community Library, where we transformed the children’s area into a brighter, more engaging and flexible space for the local community.

The existing layout featured tall bookcases with spine-out shelves, so the goal was to modernise the space while improving accessibility and supporting a busy programme of community activities.

The redesign included:

📚 Low-level, face-out shelving to encourage browsing
🔄 Mobile bookcases for a flexible, multi-use environment
🪑 Comfortable seating for independent and shared reading
🧺 Integrated storage to keep the space tidy
✨ Sensory and visual elements to enhance engagement and inclusivity

The result is a welcoming, modern library space that has received fantastic feedback from visitors and volunteers alike.
