Wanlockhead Community Centre SCIO

Wanlockhead Community Centre SCIO Space hire, events & community projects in Scotland’s highest village. All welcome. The bedding provided consists of mattresses and blankets.

Wanlockhead Community and Outdoor Centre is situated in the former primary school in the village of Wanlockhead, on the B797 road between Leadhills and Sanquhar. The Centre is available throughout the year for use as a community centre by the residents of the village and is also hired out as an outdoor centre for groups of up to 24 people. The Centre consists of two large rooms, kitchen/dining are

a and both ladies and gents toilets and showers (3 ladies showers and 2 boys showers) There is also a disabled shower room and disabled toilet. Users must provide sheets or sleeping bags for their own use and will require to erect and dismantle their own beds. Crockery, cutlery and cooking equipment are provided. There is a fridge, freezer, oven, hob and microwave. Cooking and lighting are by electricity. There is oil central heating.

Another busy week ahead but remember, around these openings you can always use the Community Library (games, jigsaws, books) access free WiFi, use the clothes swap rail, recycle your ink cartridges and bras or donate some time to the centre:

⭐️ Monday 07th - Drop In 1pm - 4pm & Panto Rehearsal & Join Up 7pm - 8.30pm
⭐️ Wednesday 09th - Drop In 1pm - 4pm
⭐️ Thursday 10th - Stained Glass Class 7pm - 10pm
⭐️ Friday 11th - Community Lunch 12noon - 2pm
⭐️ Saturday 12th - Launch Event - Stained Glass Window - with exhibits from the artist and students past & present and the new Community Fridge - made possible by funding from D&G Climate Hub Galloway and Southern Ayrshire UNESCO Biosphere

D&G Citizens Advice Service will also be joining us to talk about the work they do and how you can access their services.
Refreshments available with any proceeds to future centre events.

A date for your diaries……
On Saturday 12th September 11am - 3pm, we’ll be officially launching our Community Stained Glass Window. The launch will be supported by residents from Wanlockhead & Leadhills who have attended the ever popular classes, and have some beautiful work to showcase.

There will be refreshments available on the day with any proceeds to continued events in the Centre. If you’ve attended a class, past or present, we’ll be contacting people in a number of ways but please feel free to contact the Centre directly to confirm if you can attend and bring along your work. It would be lovely to see you there 😊
