Even though mud feels like a distant memory right now, we all know it will be right around the corner before we know it! Make sure you clean your horse’s feet and legs prior to your farrier appointment – you wouldn’t go to the dentist after eating a Mars bar having not cleaned your teeth!
Beyond your farrier getting dirty and increasing the risk of accidents through slippy/muddy chaps, farriers use rasps to level, balance and finish the foot – rasps clog particularly easily preventing your farrier from doing the best job they can.

“It just fell off!” Or did it?
‘Lost’ shoes are not wanted by any of us. Locating the lost shoe can provide an indication of how the shoe may have parted company from the foot.
Was your horse tired? Was the ground deep or slippy? When was the horse last shod? What type of fencing do you have in turn out areas? Does your horse play with others in a field?

**** PLEASE SHARE *****

Friends, clients and colleagues at 01:45 this morning, the lifeblood of my business was stolen from my driveway.

Despite the best efforts of Bedfordshire police and blueline security, it has not as of yet been found.

It is my hope, that the thieves didn’t know what was in the van when it was taken and will hopefully abandon it somewhere. Due to its nature, I hope that it is easily found.

Please be on the lookout for a metallic blue ford transit custom Ltd, registration MB54 OES (probably had the plates taken off)with twin side loading doors and a tailgate with gas stickers on the back. The inside has a full N&J kit out with refillable gas bottles and ALL MY TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT.

For all the farriers out there, if any of the following are either offered to you or you see them on selling sites, please let me and/or Bedfordshire police know.

Swan euro fitter single burner (good condition) my name is stamped on the exhaust manifold

Brooks 100kg anvil (fair amount of wear)

Parker yellow arc inverter welder (18 months old)

2 x Gibbins wrap around chaps (1 brand new & 1 fairly worn)

Cobra 2 shoeing box with a virtually brand new horsehead 12oz nailing hammer, fairly new khan 14” snips, GE 12” snips, GE 14” curved jaw clenching tongs, brand new Sell nail pullers plus the usual others tools.

All of my shoemaking tools (too many to list, but you’ve all got a good idea of what we carry) were in the van, including a Danny Bennet ‘flashman’ turning hammer.

Champion concave sizes 5 - 11 T/C fr & hds
Vulcan s/c fronts sizes 6 - 14
HMS t/c fronts 12 - 14
Moresport hinds 00 - 3
JB heartbars 1 - 4
JB st bars 0 - 4
All my glueing equipment, jameg, imprint etc
Unopened MP impression material 750g x 2

This list could go on!! 🤬🤬🤬

Please could we make this vehicle and it’s contents too hot to handle and hopefully I can salvage my business.

Many thanks

Matt
