Yesterday afternoon, the home was filled with warmth and gratitude as we came together to celebrate our wonderful volunteers with a delightful cream tea, prepared by our fabulous catering team. It was a special moment to pause and recognise the kindness, time, and dedication they so generously give to our residents and to the life of the home. The occasion was also marked by decorating a tree with fingerprints, creating a meaningful keepsake that reflected the shared spirit of togetherness and appreciation. As a small token of our thanks, we presented our volunteers with a gift to recognise the many ways they make a difference each day. Whether helping residents complete surveys, joining in with activities, or simply offering their friendly presence and support, our volunteers bring comfort, companionship, and joy, and their contribution is truly treasured by us all.

Our residents had a wonderful time today joining in with Rob T , singing along to all their favourite songs and sharing lots of smiles and laughter.In the hot weather,everyone kept hydrated with great selection of hot/cold drinks, with the top favourite being the refreshing rose berry flavour!

Our residents had an amazing time during PetPals visit. They enjoyed cuddles,playtime and lots of smiles with adorable little kittens and guinea pigs.It was lovely to see everyone so happy and engaged during this special visit.

Today we celebrated Africa day with some delicious traditional foods, dress and knowledge of the country and its culture as we welcomed the new week. Thank you to our amazing catering team for helping us experience cuisine from other cultures.

Dementia Action Week at Saxonwood during the past week was filled with wonderful events that brought our community together. We enjoyed a walk down memory lane with a fashion show highlighting styles through the years, showcasing both stunning outfits and amusing fashion trends. The sensory gardening delighted everyone with vibrant colours and delightful aromas, engaging all the senses. Our fun-filled dog show saw many adorable pups taking the spotlight, much to the delight of all attendees. The teddy bears’ picnic was a heart warming moment, giving residents the chance to share their teddy bear stories and enjoy tasty treats with their beloved teddies. To close the week, singer Ellie performed beloved songs that brought smiles and nostalgia to everyone present. A huge thank you to all who participated and helped make Dementia Action Week a memorable and meaningful experience, raising awareness and supporting those affected by Dementia. 🙏👏👏😃

This afternoon, residents and staff came together for a charming Teddy Bears’ picnic, bringing along their much-loved teddies and sharing the stories and memories behind them. The room was filled with laughter and conversation as everyone enjoyed a delightful afternoon tea. Staff, dressed in their pyjamas, added to the fun as they served teddy bear-shaped sandwiches, cakes and crisps, making the gathering feel even more cosy and special.

There was lots of excitement at Saxonwood this afternoon as we welcomed 10 lovely dogs of all shapes and sizes for our annual dog show. Residents were delighted to spend time meeting each dog, learning more about their personalities, and chatting with their owners before choosing their favourite. The atmosphere was full of smiles and anticipation as every dog took part in a final lap, giving residents one last chance to admire them before completing their voting slips and hoping their chosen dog would take the top prize. Once all the votes had been carefully counted, everyone gathered together for the eagerly awaited results. Maggie was awarded 3rd place, Mais took a proud 2nd place, and Stella was crowned our 1st prize winner. It was a truly heartwarming and enjoyable afternoon for everyone involved, and we would like to thank all of our entrants for making the event so special. We hope to welcome you all back again next year.
