๐ฆ Spotted a hedgehog in your garden during the day?
Hedgehogs are usually most active at night, so a daytime visitor can sometimes be a sign that they need a little extra help.

โข Gently approach and see whether it curls up, moves away or reacts normally.
โข Look out for injuries, flies or eggs on its body, breathing difficulties, or signs of weakness.

โข Provide a shallow dish of fresh water, not milk, as hedgehogs are lactose intolerant.

โข A hedgehog out in the early morning or late afternoon may simply be passing through or looking for food.
โข Avoid disturbing it unless there are signs it needs help.
For your garden, you can help hedgehogs by leaving a small gap under fences (around 13cm), providing water, avoiding slug pellets, and creating sheltered areas with logs, leaves, or a hedgehog house.
