Working in miniature this week, these tiny mitred mortice & tenon joints measure only 3mm x 7mm with a rail size of 10 x 10mm and are for a very slender display cabinet in Scottish Walnut.
All the joints for this cabinet need to be hand cut as there are some jobs machinery just can't accurately do but a shaving sharp chisel & patience can.

Recent paneled boot room consisting of a storage bench with leather cushion, 2 drawers & Black Walnut detailing, and a tall 6 drawer unit with a full room width cornice shelf. All finished in satin eggshell.

Recent Bedroom Dressing Island in solid Beech & Oak measuring 2400 x 1200 x 900mm. Featuring an inset Antique Brass Worktop & Lamps, 18 graduated & dovetailed drawers and a standalone upholstered bench/kist.
Finished in matt clear & green smoke lacquer.

I've not made an Aviation Piece for a while but here we have a small side table measuring 450mm high x 320mm diameter, made in Scottish Walnut inlaid with Aluminium & Aluminium detail on the plinth.
But the star of the show is a rare piece from significant aircraft Avro Vulcan XH558's Rolls Royce Olympus engines.
This CSDU Drive plate is fully certified & signed by the Vulcan to the Sky Trust, this table is a true one off never to be repeated and is currently available so grab yourself a piece of everyday useable aviation history.

A piece of local historic stained glass mounted in a slender frame of Douglas Fir finished in seal & wax, then back lit with mains powered LED lighting with capacitive touch On/Off & Dim.
A case this slender (38mm) is only possible with modern LED technology this could never have been done even 15yrs ago.

Here is a quick video i made of my Manual copy lathe in action turning some Oak spindles for a client.
I can produce turnings either by hand on a traditional lathe, or on the copy lathe depending on client requirement's and quantity's.

August 2022 marks my 21st anniversary of starting SGS Cabinetmakers, and we have decided to give everything a much needed visual overhaul, so there is a brand new website, a new Logo, new stationary and now an Instagram page if that's your thing. (Links Above)

The one thing that will Not change is our Standards and Service, if anything clients have 50 times more choice, options, techniques & even higher standards available to them now than 21yrs ago, due to my continuing reinvestment and growing the business to where it is now.

I would like to take this opportunity to Thank my long suffering partner for her eternal belief in me (and putting up with me & the long hours in the workshop!) my family for all the help and support over the years without which I would never have survived this long, my book keeper of 21yrs who has probably the most harrowing job of all! My vast collection of suppliers & contacts who manage to keep me stocked with everything I need to create the sublime to the ridiculous!
And last but certainly not least to all my Fantastic & Patient Clients, past, present and future who's ceaseless list of requirements keep my business going and my brain so close to meltdown !

Rifle Cartridge Cases in Scottish Walnut with Ebony inlay, each case holds 20 rounds and measures 135mm wide x 100mm high x 48mm thick, they feature magnetic closure and a hidden magnetic holder for the lid in the base so you don't loose it.
I have based these cases on the .308/7.62 NATO & .30-06 Springfield cartridge so they will hold .243 .260 .270 .280 .308 ect up to a Maximum cartridge size of 12mm diameter x 85mm long, they will hold smaller calibres but they will be a loose fit.
Custom cases can be made to order if you have a more exotic calibre, these cases are available from my workshop or from The MacNab Gun shop in Ballater, please contact me for more information via message or email: [email protected]

A set of feature lights for a client all designed and manufactured here in the workshop, the first is a long and slender dining table light in Black walnut measuring 2200mm long x 40mm wide with a custom made dimmable LED fitting.
The second is a stairwell pendant in Black Walnut with custom dimmable LED's and Ebonized detailing, the ceiling rose is 550mm diameter and the 18 Walnut drops are 450mm long x 28mm diameter.
