Choosing a mattress can feel overwhelming. Let's have a quick look what's inside and why it matters. Here is a short guide to the 5 main types we offer to help you understand which one might work for you!
1. Memory Foam
These are layers of high-density foam. It "hugs" your body. Foam is famous for pressure relief (great for sore joints) and motion isolation, meaning if your partner tosses and turns, you won't feel a thing.
2. Latex
Made from natural rubber sap, often with aeration holes (as seen in the pic). This is an eco-friendly choice. It feels bouncier than memory foam and is naturally cooling and breathable. It is also durable and hypoallergenic.
3. Pocket Spring
These are individual springs sewn into their own fabric pockets. The springs are not connected to each other, they move independently. This gives you customized support for your back and prevents "roll-together" (so you don't roll towards the heavier person in the bed).
4. Innerspring (or open coil)
The traditional style mattress where coils are interconnected. A classic, familiar feel with a bit of bounce. These are excellent for airflow (keeping you cool) and are usually the most budget-friendly option for guest or kids rooms.
5. Hybrid
The best of both worlds! A support layer of springs at the bottom plus comfort layers of foam or latex on top. You get the sturdy support and bounce of a spring mattress, but with the soft, cloud-like comfort on top.
