The Government-backed Warm Homes Loans scheme was launched yesterday - offering thousands of UK households the opportunity to apply for interest free or "low interest" loans to fund upgrades such as solar panels, heat pumps and battery storage.

The Government say that the scheme can help households install clean energy technology and save money on bills, thanks to loans ranging from £7,500 to up to £35,000.

Energy suppliers including British Gas and E.On have partnered with lenders from Tandem Bank and Homeserve respectively to offer the loans directly to customers at a discounted rate compared with those offered by high street lenders.

People interested in swapping their gas boiler for an air-source or ground-source heat pump could secure loans of up to £10,000 or £35,000 respectively, while also drawing on the government’s existing scheme which offers grants of up to £9,000 a year for households installing the replacements for fossil fuel heating.

This year's INCA awards night takes place in Manchester next month (November 12th).

And we are delighted that our refurbishment work of hard-to-treat, non-traditional properties in Stoke-on-Trent (https://north.westdale.uk/projects/stoke), alongside Unitas and Lovell's, has been shortlisted in the 2026 Low Rise Residential – Brick category.

This was the completion of the third phase of the project which has delivered a modern, fresh look to the houses, better energy efficiency for residents, and boosted the area’s appeal.

The criteria for this particular INCA category is any low rise residential project incorporating a full external wall insulation system and predominantly finished with a brick slip / effect finish.

The annual INCA Awards ceremony, which celebrates External Wall Insulation at its best, takes place on November 12, and we are delighted that the companies under the Westdale Group brand, Westdale Midlands, Westdale North Limited and Structherm EWI Solutions, have all been shortlisted in the Low Rise Residential – Brick category.

The criteria for this category is any low rise residential project incorporating a full external wall insulation system and predominantly finished with a brick slip / effect finish.

Westdale Midlands and Structherm have been shortlisted for their great work at Blackthorn Court, Redditch. Blackthorn Court is a development of 14 low rise flats that presented a technically challenging retrofit opportunity. As the first completed project under Citizen Housing’s Wave 3 Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund (SHDF) programme, it demonstrates how External Wall Insulation (EWI) can transform existing housing while preserving its original character.

Westdale North and Structherm have been shortlisted for the work delivered at Unitas Stoke-on-Trent (https://north.westdale.uk/projects/stoke)

Partnering with system provider Structherm, Lovell’s and Stoke-on-Trent City Council, Westdale North was contracted to refurbish over 100 hard-to-treat crosswall homes in Stoke-on-Trent. This was the completion of the third phase of the project which has delivered a modern, fresh look to the houses, better energy efficiency for residents, and boosted the area’s appeal.

Structherm have been shortlisted for two other entries in the Low Rise Residential – Brick category, for their work at Kinnock Court, Newport, and at Amplius Homes, Rushden.

Most homeowners in England and Wales are eligible for government funding to help cover the cost of installing a heat pump through the Boiler Upgrade Scheme.

Most eligible households can currently receive a grant of £7,500, while some homes currently heated by oil/LPG may be eligible for an increased grant of £9,000.

Your installer is able to apply for the grant on your behalf through Ofgem.

To qualify, you must:

🏠 You own the property — whether it’s your main home or a second property.
🏠 You’re replacing an existing fossil fuel heating system — such as gas, oil, electric, or LPG.
🏠 The property is located in England and Wales.

Heat pumps are 3x more energy efficient than traditional boilers, meaning they’ll substantially reduce the carbon footprint of your home, and because they run on electricity, there’s potential to make bill savings too by using smart tariffs with cheaper off-peak rates.

An air source heat pump unit is fixed on the outside of a home or property. It heats your home using electricity. It works like a fridge in reverse, taking heat from the air or ground (even in sub-zero weather), increasing it to a higher temperature and transferring it to your home to provide heating and hot water.

Going green can be confusing. We make it clear.

Some people get grants, some don't. Some measures belong on your house, some don't. We tell you straight, then quote what actually fits.

• Durability: It utilizes a specialized low-viscosity resin system designed to offer long-term robustness and resist efflorescence (salt deposits on masonry).
