Adam’s charming AC Chummy came in last year for some weathergear. When it arrived I saw it had a very clean original floor with carpet studs still in place, I’d had a few recent enquiries about original pattern carpets so decided to check my patterns on this floor and also knock up a set of carpets for Adam’s car using some original Austin (not 7) carpet (unbeknowns to Adam!) A bit of cut and shut with the old carpet gave me enough to recreate an original pattern (and colour) carpet for his car, it’s basically only 2 sections… a huge one for the front and a smaller one for the back, both single pieces, again, as original. Edged in a black rexine, and fitted in place using the original floor studs. The entire pattern and detail is correct apart from a very small change around the pedals that I made. I really enjoyed doing it, I couldn’t resist as the carpet I had suited Adam’s car perfectly. Think he liked it:)! I did anyway. Did the hood too which I also enjoyed, but that’s a story for another time:)

The small joys in discovering history on wet cold winter afternoons… Unmolested original AE rear base complete and hidden under later trim. Rear base preserved as part of the cars history whilst new one made for the new trim for ‘Pinky’ the chum:)

Looking for advice. Really trying to match an original style of carpet weave and colour to suit a vintage Austin 7. Nothing similar at usual suppliers so any knowledgeable advice very welcome! Thanks Simon

Snow Day! Not the best day for a long distance collection but thanks to Mike for picking up his Rod Yates SWB Ulster project today, some new seats and some useful interior pockets added (!) as well as a tonneau cover. All removable for when the paint goes on in the spring. Fun workshop rearrangement in the snow! ❄️☃️

Varied week again… box saloon partial interior collected, bike seat and chummy rear back done, weathergear on the morris complete and collected and a SWB Ulster in for a basic mohair tonneau and leather interior sorted (flat pleats and base requested) bit of late night improvement on the website too, getting there. Also the arrival of ‘the beast’ very original standard vanguard that started life in singapore in for a headlining. Other than that not much going on!

Nip and tuck.. lovely original Nippy with a long history with the owner, in for a leather interior seats and cards , with some useful pockets added, leather bound wool carpet set, mohair sidescreens, hood, tonneau and hoodbag, collected at the weekend and off back to south wales 👍

Boxing clever 🥊 Stunning little RP box saloon was sporting a rather tired brown interior, not complimenting the beautiful dark green paintwork. Customer chose a rather beautiful and seasonal ‘Autumn Leaf’ tan leather and county tan wool carpets to really set off the interior 🍁. Trimmed to correct original patterns for all the cards and seat detail, with the added luxury of carpets which is a popular choice for many. Personally I love it!
