Was a real pleasure to work on Boys Hall last year. Lovely rooms, lovely food and lovely people!

And just like that…the bedrooms are OPEN 🥳

It’s taken 3 years and 2 months to get to this point, with a lot of dirt, dust and determination 💪

Lots going on in the workshop at the moment!

Got to see the flooring all in place today at .hall love the texture on this oak even if it did cause my hands a lot of grief... Currently working on staining some worktops and building an ottoman frame. The customer asked for the ottoman frame to be heavy and sturdy so as usual I went a little over the top 🤔

Hand sanded oak flooring all ready to go to .hall
Doing this reminded me so much of when I was training as a cabinetmaker and had to hand plane 120sq meters of oak flooring, luckily this was only 9 square meters!

Just completed a re-finish on this window bay. With an oak window bay and pine window frames it took a lot of polishing and touching up to blend the two together but we now have a very happy customer!

Another project finished, another happy customer.
I was asked to build a side table using the offcuts from a dining table I helped make before Christmas and this was the result!
I didn't really have much to play with on the offcuts and the only requirement from the customer was that it needed a 'barky' edge on show. Really happy with how this one came out and was a real challenge trying to figure out how to best use the offcuts.

Finally got my side table project finished today but won't be posting any photos until it's in it's new home.
I had some time today to work on a prototype for an idea thats been in my head for a couple of years now, I made a few prototypes last year but they didn't come out how I wanted them to so I'm trying a different method. 🤞

Another logo carved which means I'm coming to the end of a project. Tucked away under the table as I'm not a fan of big logo's but this also made it a bit of a tricky one. All sealed and ready for some gold leaf.

Well I've been a bit quiet on here lately and this is the reason why...

At 2.5m long and 1m wide its been a tough slab to tackle but it's going to make a beautiful table ready just in time for Christmas!

Progress...

I started this stool project before August and kept putting it off because of the sheer amount of work involved.

It took me weeks to finalise a design for the scrolls on the legs and has taken me another 3 weeks to get them painted as this isn't a comission and only gets worked on in my spare time.

There's still lots to do on this piece, two more spindles need painting and I still need to figure out a design on the rim of the seat, but it's slowly getting there.

I've had a design like this in my head ever since I started making things and it's so nice to finally see it come to life.

Tulip stool painted gloss black with crushed abalone/mother of pearl inlay and gold leaf scrolls.
