Arundel ...What's On?

There's some interesting events on in Arundel in June....here's a round up of the ones I've spotted....

The Kate Bush Tribute evening is on in the Old Jailhouse...
if you're a Kate Bush fan and you've never been to this venue....it's fantastic.

Going into July... be here in the blink  of an eye...

I spotted the last poster by Slindon pond while walking  yesterday...

The pond...which has so much history to it.... is looking beautiful BTW...

(I love the idea of the Films in the Field.)

As for us today?...Nass will be at the warehouse today and I'm pushing on with painting and decorating some particularly unloved vintage pieces.

Enamel buckets and pots are lined up awaiting work.

Elsa is snoozing alongside.
Coffee pot on.

New audible book playing as I work.

(I'm following the Seven Sisters stories by Lucinda Riley..

Finding them mesmerising....if you're a lover of audible books....worth checking out.)

Decoupage.. oh yes...

It's a particularly tough job..but someone has to do it.

Have a Tremendous Tuesday ###

Our shop?

It's not posh.
Far from it.

It doesn't have an upmarket facade.

Let's be honest....It doesn't even have a window.

It's hidden.

Down an alley, not on the main street.
Behind the Co-op and the chippie.....among parked cars.

So...if you wanted to take a look you would have to seek us out.

It's not for the faint hearted.

We've occasionally seen browsers give up at the last hurdle.

Come around the corner....and  turn around without looking in.

We aren't open every day.

But ....there are upsides...

No..really there are......

The 18th century warehouse  that was once part of the Arundel Swallow Brewery...has character and is large....

with plenty of room for our English and French antique and vintage furniture..
.armoires..buffets...French 19th century chairs for reupholstery...tables...chests...Rolls Royce factory lights from the 1960's...
..plus our own style of upcycled decorated furniture and pots...

It's peaceful...even when the town centre  is bursting with people.....
...so you'll have room to wander.

Trade customers love to visit as it's quiet...
...like a secret destination..

and...
there's room outside for shipping vans to collect.

We are always open Saturday and in the warehouse most days..
....but don’t have set weekday opening hours... and there are reasons for that.

We might be working on furniture.

Buying.
Delivering.

Health issues play a part...

So...what to do?

We are happy to be there anytime
Send a message...or give us a call.

Tell us when and we will be there with bells on...
...or at the very least, with the kettle on....

Here's a meander through the warehouse.

Our Arundel May.

Where did May go?
Arundel was as busy and beautiful as usual.

Antique and Vintage Fair was bustling.

Farmer's market as lovely as ever.

Elsa and I had the most glorious morning walks.

Nass and I were busy with regular clients and upcycling orders.

Every day, week, month in this crazy world is precious hey?

Have a Super Sunday ###

Hidden Gem? ..
Or simply a waste of time?

Our shop isn’t posh.

It’s  probably as far from "upmarket" as you can get.

We don’t have a fancy facade or street window display.

Actually......we don’t even have a window.

You’ll find us tucked down an alley, nestled behind the Co-op among the parked cars.

It’s a bit of an adventure finding us..

We are in an18th-century warehouse—once part of the historic Arundel Swallow Brewery.

It’s a space with character and, more importantly, the scale to hold our  collection .....

19th-century French armoires, buffets, and chairs  for reupholstery.

Original 1960s factory lights from the Rolls Royce Derby works.

Our signature upcycled furniture and decorated vintage pots...

(which got us onto the top floor of Liberty London for three years... crazy... but true)

Even when Arundel is buzzing with crowds,  our warehouse remains a peaceful "secret destination" where you can wander at your own pace....

and blissfully cool on these hot days.

Trade customers love the quiet, and there's plenty of room for shipping vans to load up outside.

We are always open on Saturdays.

Rest of the week?
Between restoring furniture and sourcing new pieces, we aren't always at the warehouse.

Want to visit?
We’d love to see you.
Just send us a message or give us a call.

Have a Super Saturday ###

Working on furniture from home has it's downsides....especially in the  long winter months.

To start with our Arundel cottage is always a mess...paint on floor...varnish splashed up walls...

We trip over furniture, pots and buckets lined up for working on....or finished and awaiting a lift to the warehouse

well....you get  picture..

We do have a studio at the end of the garden, by the river...but it's usually overloaded and much of the work is done in the house.

Homes and Gardens it ain't...

( Actually...House and Garden magazine DID once come to visit.  They were going to write a piece on us and our antique business that was to include our home....

They politely declined.)

But ..the joy...when summer and sunshine arrives....

An early walk with Elsa before the heat kicks in..

Working under the umbrella in the garden..audible book playing...an aperitif by the river to celebrate finishing a large piece of furniture.

It's a tough job...but someone has to do it.
