e streak reimagining old and unloved furniture. We create stunning, individual pieces of furniture using specialist paint, paper, fabric, our own photographs (or yours) and anything else that we might come across. We've even had successful photographic exhibitions. We can be sometimes be seen (although we try not to be) throughout the North West hanging about the streets with our cameras (and the two pugs) snapping away (us not the pugs - they don't snap). When we're not doing that, we like hanging about in different locations around the world - we're international nuisances really. You can buy our images in a variety of sizes from super-size to 8” x 10” . We also make our own greeting / note cards carrying our photographic images and presented a number of different ways including in environmentally friendly boxes made from 100% recycled material. We accept commissions for both furniture and photography. if you want to upcycle a piece of your own favourite but tired piece of furniture come and talk to us. You can select your own colours and if you wish you can have your own photographs put onto your furniture. Summer 2017 we became an approved seller for The Bespoke Furniture Collection. This is a juried selling site with a mission to bring high quality, restyled and remade furniture to quality buyers.

This morning I've been cleaning this modern sideboard with TSP and prepping with Fusion ultragrip. I couldn't find a vintage sideboard with the right dimensions for the intended space so I went for this modern version. It's a bit knocked about and not looking its best right now. Five old school chairs, cleaned, sanded, cleaned, 3 coats of osmo oil later and they are ready for their new home and life. As dining chairs. I really like how they look now. The wood is well fed, the metal brackets have been stripped back but they still show some signs of their previous life

I've had several ask for me to post this again.

There is a huge misconception that furniture painters just "slap on paint".

It's not true. Any professional will tell you the same thing - there is so much behind the scenes work that happens...you'd truly be amazed.

There is no such thing as no prep.

Let me say it louder for the people in the back...

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS "NO PREP".

Here's a tiny glimpse into the world of a furniture painter...

Hunting down the perfect pieces.
Hauling them back to the studio.
Removing hardware. (Sometimes that's a real bitch.)
Repairing drawer tracks, scratches, holes, dents, etc.
Replacing the old back with a new backboard.
Filling in old hardware holes.
Measuring and drilling new hardware holes.
Reattaching broken legs, doors, tops, etc.
Building a new top in some cases.
Making molds of broken ornate pieces and repairing them.
Scrubbing the pieces with industrial cleaner.
Sanding down the old finish.
Stripping down layers upon layers of old paint, stain, lacquer, etc.
Scrubbing again and removing all the dust.
Prime the furniture.
Paint the furniture.
Distress, layer paint, work your magic, etc. on the pieces.
Top coat the furniture.
Install new hardware.
Stage the furniture.
Photograph the furniture.
List for sale in a thousand different places.
Deal with people lowballing your prices.
Deal with even more people lowballing your prices.
Wrap the furniture for transport.
Deliver to your store/booth/clients home.
Wrap/crate the furniture for shipping.
Find freight companies you can trust.
Manage invoices, supply orders, receipts, etc.

There are seriously so many aspects of this business that many don't comprehend.

If you're doing this as a hobby for yourself and don't want to take the proper steps to ensure a lasting finish...that's fine. Just stop telling people there's no prep paint and you can just paint it without sanding, cleaning, priming, etc.

Skipping steps just ends up with more trouble in the long run.

If this is your daily hustle I just want to say you are a rockstar!

I am right there with you guys and I appreciate all of the hard work that goes into each piece.

If you know a furniture painter take the time today to say thank you. Because we deal with all the bu****it you don't want to deal with and make your homes so much prettier. 😉😘

THE ROYAL BEDDING GIGS

*IMPORTANT, PLEASE CONTACT US BEFORE ORGANISING ANY ROYAL BEDDING/MUSICIANS AGAINST HOMELESSNESS EVENTS* This is an organised campaign in addition to our usual annual gigs in Sept/Oct. We will supply all details and official posters/logo.

In response to the recent news that the streets of Windsor will be cleared of homeless people MAH announce THE ROYAL BEDDING DAY on the same day as the royal wedding. We ask all of our supporters and friends to join us in putting on as many music events as possible across England, Scotland and Wales to support homeless people and to make a lot of noise!

This is a call to put the focus on the poorest in our society; the number of homeless people on our streets is rapidly escalating and it’s a national disgrace. Thousands and thousands of people are in desperate situations with a recent report stating that one in every 200 people are classed as homeless or living in unsuitable accommodation.

What do you need to do?

Organise a music event in a local venue, this could be a pub, community centre, church, cafe or live music venue, it could even be in your front room! Ask local bands to play and invite your friends and fans. If you are a band organise a night with other bands. If you are a venue, offer to host. It’s the same format as our usual MAH gigs, its easy to do and can make a huge difference. Events can be ticketed or entry by donation, its up to you. We will send you an official Royal Bedding poster with our official logo to use and details on how to pay in money raised. Events will be promoted across our socials and we hope that your local press might take an interest!

It’s going to be a day of celebration, the coming together of people across the nation. There will be singing and dancing, excitement and a warm feeling inside. The loyal fans will be cheering and waving their arms in the air! The 19th of May we invite you all to attend...
