Had a play with the Dal's Archery 1/2" taper tool. For a 3D printed gadget, it works remarkably well, giving perfectly acceptable results. If you go gently and try not to hog off too much material by forcing the shaft into the tool, you'll get a clean taper that is a perfect fit for the 1/2" points.
This is beech in the photo- a quick wipe with 240g sandpaper to clean up the rear edge, and you're good to go. Don't forget, scratch the inside of the head with sandpaper to give it a key for the glue to hold firm(2 part epoxy, slow cure, let it rest overnight at room temperature).
