After many months of pondering whether or not to remove the pine cladding on this kitchen ceiling in case we found all sorts of hidden horrors, my client went for it, and although some re-routing of existing wiring had to be done by Charles the electrician, and cables and water / waste pipes had to be boxed in or over as some went round the whole perimeter of the room, the client is very happy with the result.
A lighter, brighter room, along with some new light fittings is the result. After the panelling was removed, insulation was then fitted between the ceiling beams, then battened out, plasterboarded, taped, filled then the whole room painted. Such was the improvement, it has now been decided to do the entrance hall, and the room beyond the kitchen as well.
