🌱 Seed harvest season is at its peak in our cyclamen greenhouses.

Right now, our teams are carefully harvesting cyclamen seeds by hand, a precise and essential step that takes place directly in our production greenhouses in Fréjus, France.

Each mature fruit is individually collected at the perfect stage to ensure optimal seed quality. The seeds are then delicately extracted, cleaned, and prepared for the next stages of processing.

These images offer a behind-the-scenes look at this important moment of the season, and highlight the meticulous work carried out by our production teams every day.

A big thank you to all our teams for their dedication and careful work in helping provide high-quality seeds to our customers worldwide 💚

Ever wondered how a new cyclamen variety becomes part of the Morel collection?

Everything begins at our headquarters in Fréjus, South of France, where our breeding team develops and evaluates thousands of new cyclamen seedlings each year. From the earliest stages, only the most promising young plants move forward.

🌱 Step by step, each future variety is challenged and observed:
• Evaluation in real production conditions
• Assessment of uniformity and genetic stability
• Disease resistance and adaptability testing
• Outdoor and climate trials in multiple regions worldwide
• Cold and heat tolerance validation

As selections advance, propagation and production trials continue over several years. Only a very small number will eventually stand out for their:
• Exceptional ornamental appeal
• Strong performance and reliability
• Uniform flowering and growth habit
• High production value
• Resilience under demanding conditions

🤝 This process is carried out together with our trusted partners and trial networks around the world, ensuring every introduction delivers true value for growers, retailers, landscapers, and gardeners alike.

And when one hybrid finally checks every box (performance, innovation, beauty, and market relevance), it earns its place within the Morel collection, with a dedicated identity and launch prepared for the market.

Are you ready to meet the next standout in cyclamen innovation?

Morel Cyclamens: Heat resistance in their genes ☀️🌸
Morel has grown cyclamens since 1919 and has selected new varieties in southern France, right in the heart of a Mediterranean climate.

Hot temperatures, intense sunlight, and extreme humidity swings are daily challenges for these plants. With long dry spells followed by heavy rain, cyclamens grown here must be tough.

That’s why, over decades of breeding in these conditions, Morel has naturally selected for superior heat resistance:
• Strong plants
• Thick stems
• High light tolerance
• Vibrant, long-lasting colors

Looking for heat-tolerant varieties? Go for Morel cyclamens!
From Maxi to Mini, there's a perfect variety for every pot size and use.

The fruits are entering their maturation phase. A delicate and fascinating stage that comes just before the precious seed harvest.

🌸 Each plant is genetically unique: it has its own foliage, its own rhythm of development, and even its own fruiting style! Some fruits ripen deep within the plant, others grow in tight clusters or spaced out more freely. Sometimes, the result is a truly artistic display of nature. ✨

After pollination, the fruit slowly begins to form. In Cyclamen persicum, for example, the flower stem curls into a spiral as the fruit gently swells. 🐝

Seeds are harvested at the perfect moment – when the fruit softens and turns a yellow-brown color. That’s when it offers its very best. This step is essential to ensure high-quality seeds.

👩‍🌾 While waiting for the right time, our horticultural team keeps pollinating the last flowers and carefully tending to the plants. It’s a patient and precise job !
