We are British Makers, Ezra and Elizabeth Harvey and we design and make handmade bespoke furniture in our old stone workshop in the Loire Valley. We specialise in making oak dining tables and freestanding kitchen furniture to bespoke sizes. We love to use sustainable French oak with traditional techniques to create simple, contemporary bespoke furniture, built to last for generations. The furnitu

re we make includes bespoke tables, oak dining chairs, handmade oak benches, bespoke console tables and coffee tables. We also make freestanding kitchen cabinets, bespoke sideboards, kitchen islands and bespoke garden furniture. We love to take on commissions for something we have not made before. Almost the rentrée ! Whilst we adjust to work mode, here are a few pictures from the delivery of the 4 metre table. Our client wanted a large, traditional pedestal table with an antique finish to complement the scale of her dining room. Client happy!! 👌

I should perhaps give the console table and sideboard that went with the 4 metre table a mention. As with a lot of our commissions the designs came from some images supplied by our client but to their own dimensions. And like the table, finished with chêne foncé stain and Danish oil. All given a final flourish with these stunning brass cup handles and k***s from Yester Home . I really can't rate this company highly enough. A bespoke table commission. Our client showed us a picture of a table she liked and we recreated it for her to her own dimensions. L400cm x W120cm x H75cm, finished with a chêne foncé stain and Danish oil.

We have a ridiculous amount of work to do in less time than we had envisaged. We only have one small window for delivery of 4 large pieces including this 4 metre table. There is only one day when we’ll have help at the delivery end to bring the furniture in to the house. This table will need at least 4 people, ideally 6. We’ll need help this end to load the van next Thursday. Any volunteers?!

Magic happens when you fill a plywood box with steam…out come the back slats for some dining chairs. They are quickly clamped tight into their molds, which are then screwed shut and left to dry. A trip to the wood yard yesterday. No bank holiday for us…still working despite not being able to make much noise! We’ll be wrestling the boules into the workshop plank by plank…💪.
