The Unio Collection by Poiat, featuring an armchair, ottomans, and sofas, marked a new chapter for the founders and designers, Timo Mikkonen and Antti Rouhunkoski, as it was their first soft seating line. The collection explores novel forms and textures by blending aesthetic elements from past decades with contemporary functionality and comfort.
The different characteristics of the Unio furniture family are expressed through its shape and materials. The secure and upright look invites one to sit with confidence, while the tactile nature of textiles and rounded shapes suggest its sophisticated comfort.
The renowned lifestyle magazine Monocle chose the Unio Collection as the winner of the Warmest Design prize at the Monocle Design Awards 2022.
Each member of the family features a fully upholstered plywood frame, commercial-grade foam, and a solid ash plinth. Additionally, the single-seater armchair can be equipped with a swivel mechanism, allowing it to rotate and return to its original position.
The selection of upholstery fabrics for Unio Collection is a carefully curated selection of fine fabrics from the industry’s most esteemed manufacturers, such as Dedar, Pierre Frey and Larsen.
