Despite being semi retired I keep my hand in as best I can. So last year I approached three businesses that I knew were struggling for survival. One very badly, but in denial, the other aware but wanted my services for nothing (something I almost considered doing but came to my senses. Especially when I was asked to find waiting staff who they paid more than they offered me!!) and the third an onsight operation where they decided they would carry on with the operator they had, despite knowing that they were losing money and customers. One year later, the on site operation contiinues as was, the second 'client' closed, then re-opened but carrys on the same and the first one went bust "big-time" I still watch people open (and close) as I have done for 35 years of operating here and am still amazed at the number of them who wish to open a business, invariably with no knowledge and then can't understand why they fail. Some perople think they just need a chef and a restaurant manager......and everything will be hunky-dory. The road to hell is paved with good intentions. Sadly without professional help, the road gets longer and harder.
