Designed in 1991 for a legendary nightclub in Barcelona, the JAMAICA STOOL by Pepe Cortés remains one of BD’s most recognisable designs. Over the years, it has moved between bars, homes, restaurants and public spaces, carrying with it a certain ease and informality while remaining very structurally precise.

A Living Legacy in Design
For more than 50 years, BD has preserved and produced Antoni Gaudí’s furniture and object designs, recovering historic works conceived for Casa Batlló and Casa Calvet, and reintroducing them into contemporary design culture.

The CALVET PEEP-HOLE demonstrates how even the smallest functional object became part of Gaudí’s architectural language.

Rather than designing through drawings and sketches, Gaudí pressed, pierced, and shaped clay directly with his hands and fingers before casting the forms in polished brass. That direct process can still be felt today: fingers settle intuitively into place, the palm rests comfortably against the metal, and movements such as opening or closing a door feel unexpectedly natural.

Each piece bears Gaudí’s signature and carries certification from the Real Cátedra Gaudí, confirming it as a faithful reproduction of his original designs.

DESIGN IN CONTEXT: LA PALMERA BY BERGNES DE LAS CASAS ()

An 18th century family home in Cadaqués, carefully reworked by Victor Bergnes de las Casas.

Interiors redone with careful discipline. Inherited pieces, local furniture, and Catalan designs from different eras sit together naturally, without conflict, creating a space that feels both historic and contemporary.
