There are many steps before a lamp is finished, and sanding is one of the longest processes. Some of my pieces, especially those with smoother surfaces, require hours of sanding.

I love this part of the work because slowly, from the raw texture, a soft and delicate surface begins to emerge. Small wrinkles and irregularities remain visible which are later emphasized by natural pigments.

Floor lamp STROMBOLI. For me, this piece is somewhere between lamp and totem — sculptural object that connects natural forces with human craftsmanship. The idea came from the contrast between fire as a wild, transformative force and light as something intimate that brings calm, warmth, and a sense of safety into a space.

Each piece is handcrafted from cellulose fiber and water-based adhesive, and finished in natural grey tones.

In my creative process, each piece begins with a series of sketches. I draw the forms many times before I decide to develop them in a large scale.

After the sketches comes a small clay model, that helps me to see the object from different perspectives and better understand its form in space.

UVA lamp draws inspiration from the form of wine grapes and the sensory explosion of their flavor. The notion of “explosion” is understood both metaphorically and physically — as a suspended moment of energy, expansion, and dispersion.

The piece captures the ephemeral instant when light radiates outward, evoking fireworks dissolving into the air.

Each lamp is handcrafted from cellulose fiber made from paper waste in my studio in Badalona, near Barcelona. To create it, we collect old newspapers from a nearby library in Sagrada Família.

Each piece carries within it fragments of collective memory — everyday stories, and forgotten news. In the process of turning into pulp, these messages dissolve and merge together, transforming into something entirely new.
