Our very first Wonderland photoshoot almost didn’t happen...

Renowned artists Tal R and Jonathan Meese were (understandably) skeptical when we pitched them the idea of dressing up for an article we wanted to do about their upcoming exhibition, MOTHER at for our debut issue of Wonderland Magazine. After all, serious artists don’t usually dress up for photoshoots—as anything but themselves.

Luckily, we convinced Tal R to give it a go—and, being the nice guy he is, he invited us to Berlin for the shoot and interview. So we packed our gear (including the largest Victorian-style dress we could borrow from The Royal Theatre’s costume department), hopped on a FlixBus, and set off for our very first magazine shoot.

The shoot not only happened, but Tal R and Meese liked the photos so much that they wanted one as their official portrait and press photo for the exhibition.

Not bad for total newbies on the art scene—seeing “your work” blown up to billboard size in the National Gallery of Denmark.

Afterwards, we all got on a boat to party at Halvandet, and from there, the night turned blurry. All we know is that by 8 am., we were scrubbing down a circus tent... 🎪
