Hans C J Gram was born 13 Sept 1853 in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Gram was a bacteriologist who developed a method to quickly identify two different large groups of bacteria. His method is now routinely used for histology and microbiology. Bacteria that absorb the stain which turn purple are known as Gram positive bacteria, and those that do not absorb the stain, which might be coloured pink with a counterstain, are labelled Gram negative.

In the 'green' countries (Scandinavia) vets are not allowed to make a profit on selling antibiotics to farmers. In the 'red' countries vets ARE allowed to make a profit on selling antibiotics.
The numbers speaks for themselves in terms of over usage of antibiotics, and they indicate, that maybe someone other than the farmer is to blame!

It's clearly easier to drive to your vet with a milk sample, drive back home and then wait a couple of days for the vet ...

Et basalt problem i 'on-farm-analyse' er, at der ude i staldmiljøet og i alle bygninger rundt omkring ikke er tilnærmelsesvis så rent, som der skal være for at lave bakterieanalyse. Point-of-Cow -testen foregår i et lukket miljø, og derfor er den også meget mere robust, så man er sikker på, at det, der viser sig i testen også stammer fra mælken fra yveret og ikke alle mulige andre steder fra.
Det to test herunder blev fyldt med pasteuriseret mælk tirsdag morgen på Agromek. De er her - gennem fire dage - blevet 'vendt og drejet og pillet ved af 100er af besøgende, og alligevel, her halvanden uge senere, er der stadig ikke vækst i kamrene. Så, den kan du stole på ;-)
