FREDERICIA AT 3DAYSOFDESIGN

Palæbar is a Copenhagen institution. Located on Ny Adelgade, a street dating back to the 1600s, the richly decorated jazz bar has long welcomed passersby and regulars alike.

For Portuguese designer Hugo Passos, Palæbar also became a favourite hangout and unofficial design studio during his years in Copenhagen, while developing the Gomo Collection for Fredericia—alongside earlier works such as the Calmo Sofa and Piloti tables.

Discover the Gomo Collection and the next generation of furniture design in “Fredericia: A Chronicle of Danish Design” at our showroom during 3daysofdesign.

FREDERICIA AT 3DAYSOFDESIGN

Kunsthal Charlottenborg has showcased contemporary art since 1883 and still partly houses the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. These historic halls also helped shape Danish design history: in 1924, Kaare Klint founded the Department of Furniture Design here, teaching generations of designers including Børge Mogensen, Hans J. Wegner, and Nanna Ditzel. Charlottenborg also often served as a venue for the legendary Copenhagen Cabinetmakers’ Guild Exhibitions between 1927-1966.

Across the courtyard, traces of this history remain: Mogensen’s J39 Chair, once used throughout the school, now welcomes guests at Apollo Bar.

Discover the full story of the J39 Chair and original furniture by Børge Mogensen during 3daysofdesign in our exhibition Fredericia: A Chronicle of Danish Design.

An architectural masterpiece of Danish Modernism, Vilhelm Lauritzen’s Radiohuset is home to the Royal Danish Academy of Music. The uncompromising interior design enables artistic expression, and a crowd Trinidad chairs by Nanna Ditzel contribute to the poetic and atmospheric environment, where sound and architectural excellence take central stage.

Discover the evolution of the Trinidad Chair and original sketches from Ditzel during 3daysofdesign at our showroom, where we present the exhibition 'Fredericia: A Chronicle of Danish Design'.

FREDERICIA AT 3DAYSOFDESIGN

When Nanna Ditzel returned to Copenhagen after nearly two decades in London, she settled in Klareboderne, just across from the Fredericia showroom. Her home and design studio is today regarded as a hidden gem in Danish design history.

Just across the street, at a rooftop café that once stood on the same site as the showroom today, she spent countless hours with Thomas Graversen, owner of Fredericia, exchanging ideas on experimental industrial design.

Discover Ditzel’s legacy in “Fredericia: A Chronicle of Danish Design” and the relaunch of her Trisse Collection at our Løvstræde showroom during 3daysofdesign.

FREDERICIA AT 3DAYSOFDESIGN

Greyfriars Square, Gråbrødretorv, sits quietly in the centre of Copenhagen, a cobblestoned space framed by colourful townhouses and a large plane tree where the city pauses, meets, and lingers. Named after a friary established here in 1238, the square carries layers of history hidden in plain sight.

On the square, Restaurant Bobe occupies a building dating back to the 16th century. When chef Bo Bech took over the space, it was furnished with a special edition of the J39 Chair by Fredericia, originally produced around 50 years ago.

The restaurant interior and Mogensen chairs were carefully restored. “Recycling is an homage to the original craftsmanship and a way of creating connections between the old and the new,” says Atelier Axo, the architecture studio behind Bobe.

Discover the evolution of the J39 Chair by Børge Mogensen in “Fredericia: A Chronicle of Danish Design” during 3daysofdesign.

The Fredericia showroom is located in the historic centre of Copenhagen. Inside, this sense of duality emerges through a collection that spans mid-century masters such as Børge Mogensen and Nanna Ditzel, alongside contemporary designers including Barber Osgerby and Cecilie Manz.
Outside, from our 5th floor terrace, we find Hermes, the Greek god of merchants and travelers, immortalised in bronze by sculptor Julius Schultz.

Visit us during 3daysofdesign where we will showcase a century of design culture in the exhibition ‘Fredericia: A Chronicle of Danish Design’ as well as new launches and relaunches.
