In Nørrebro, Copenhagen, Karin and Jørgen Gammelgaard’s apartment is a home, design studio and weaving workshop all at once.

Jørgen’s furniture prototypes share space with Karin’s wooden looms, collected objects and the everyday traces of a life spent surrounded by design and designers. Among them are the JG Folding Stool, JG Table, and JG Sofa, alongside an early JG coffee table from 1963, crafted in red ABS plastic.

The result feels quietly considered, shaped as much by a life surrounded by design as by the objects themselves.

Sarah discovered the craft of upholstery almost by chance, but quickly recognised it as the right path. A newly trained upholsterer working at our workshop in Svendborg, she now works on technically complex sofas and iconic designs by Børge Mogensen and Hans J. Wegner. Sarah is part of a new generation carrying a longstanding craft forward, while continuing to develop it for the future.⁠
